Nope.

Yep

Nope.

Oh nice!

Just when you think we might be making an effort we go back to good old Melbourne mode.

Nicholson would be a good ammos player... Oh wait...

How many times has Tappy done that!

DId it take being the sub to kick Bail into gear? Saved himself from being dropped today IMO.

Is hands in the back only paid in the F50?

My understanding is that it is only paid to other teams.

Didn't even have the ball

I've been very critical of Jetta, but his chasing today has been first class

We have been very steely in defence for the last 5-10 minutes. I am happy with the way we have run out this game.

Trengove has lifted this quarter

A better effort today but it continues to highlight the number of players on our list who are not AFL standard:

Jordie McKenzie (non standard ability with respect to marking, kicking or thinking quickly plus he is slow - my 6 year old thinks he can handpass)

Daniel Nicholson (non standard everything except fitness)

James Sellar (not sure why he is on our list) and

Rohan Bail (God love and protect him but he does not have enough skills under pressure or even without pressure).

Unfortunately having watched Casey v Box Hill yesterday, the Hawks have at least 18 fellas with AFL standard kicking skills to bring into a strong squad and we have maybe one or two.

Our recruiting has been awful...

Sellar was good today.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
