Training - Wednesday 13th March, 2013

Club twitter says open training is on from 9.45 am at Gosch's Paddock tomorrow.

If anyone's going down, could you please keep an eye on Mitch, Jack T, Chris Dawes and Max.

I will try and get down there since I have the day off Uni. I will also try and take photos of those 4. No promises though.

I'm here and watching the session, can't stay too long, but gee it's good to see Mitch and Trenners out with the main group.

Blease running laps looks ok too.

That Kiwi project player is also here running laps, can't remember his name

Being new to the group, I assume he is a little sheepish?

baaad call nutbean....

They are now doing a drill where they have to get the ball out of a congested area, with one group tackling and the other trying to get the ball out.

Viney looks pretty good at this as does Rodan. Barry also looks quick around the packs.

Dawes and Blease working together doing sprints.

Sounds like Dawes hammy injury is no longer an issue?

ok.ok...sheesh...no need to ram it down my throat...

He looks fine to me, looks like they are putting he and Blease through an agility test.

Kent doing sprints with Bail, but there is something special about Kent. He looks hardened and ready made.

Trengove looking a little slimmer and dare I say it quicker .... in the middle of the drill I'm watching now and demanding the ball.

Gawn outmarking Jamar in one on ones and also looks fit.

Dunn is everywhere, expect a huge season from him this year.

Seems to be be making all the play out of defence.

How's Mitch Clark going?

How's Mitch Clark going?

Clark looks good. He hasn't lost his skills and he still oozes leadership out on the ground.

I reckon he will play round one.

Only YOU would assume that.

Well, you know what they say about one who assumes... makes an ass out of ewe and me.

Maia Westrupp (pronounced Myer)

Pretty standard rehab procedure I would presume. Lifting intensity from jogging, 1/4 pace, 1/2 pace, 3/4 pace, 90% through to repeat full pace sprints until they are 100% fit.

Could JT and Mitch both be fit enough for Round 1?

Mitch will have no fitness base and JT won't have enough to play as a mid for the whole game. I hope they play but I hope they are fit and firing first.

Isn't the word out that Mitch Clark will be playing for Casey in a practice match against Port Melbourne next week? If true, I suppose that will give some sort of indication as to his level of match fitness, from which the club can make their next call.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
