FIRST & FOREVER

I like it. We were first ! Time to start acting like it

We were first, correct, about 150+ years ago. I'm wanting to know what we are doing in 2013, and am looking for something other than our history to show me that the expectation of the entire Club has been lifted, not just the playing group.

We are now currently debt-free, and have been for about 2 years (IIRC). That's great, but now I want to go from being debt free to being a Club that is very well off financially, and striving to be one of the richer ones in the league. It can happen, just like our team can improve, it's going to take great, strong people to drive it. Just like it's going to take great strong coaches to put things in place that are non-negotiables, as well as great, strong players to do it. After the past 5+ years, it could be argued that it's a lot longer, we're going to need great, strong supporters to smash through that 40k member level, and in the near future be looking at 50k+.

signed up for 2013 membership today, and choose the Dedicated Demon option where my membership will roll over 'Forever'

Get on board!

Same for me and an extra membership for my Son. There's no other way!! While I'm openly far from convinced Neeld is the right thing for Melbourne I'll always be Melbourne.

You need a pretty slogan to make you want to renew?

If I did need a pretty slogan to make me renew, I would've already signed up as soon as I saw this one.

I want one with a bit of c**t about it, one that other teams look at and hate. One that puts our supporters in a position where they HAVE to sign up. One that puts a public expectation on our players, and the Club as a whole.

"100% Buy In" is something like that. "No More Excuses" is something like that. It shows a Club is united and going forward together. "First and Forever" is neither here nor there for me. When you are in a position like us, trying to lift ourselves off the canvas and make a statement, it has to come from all aspects of the Club. Perhaps "100% Deesire, 100% Deetermination, 100% Uncondeetional" (as I said, I'm not a marketing expert!).

While our tradition is something that other Club's don't have, we are at a stage where 2013 is basically our "first" season (of a new era). We've be down for so long, we've cleaned out the list, the coach will have the players that he wants, 2013 is when it starts. If we don't pull our finger out, the "Forever" part of our membership drive will be irrelevant.

Yeah all these tough guy slogans did wonders for Carlton

I honestly think if people are swayed as to whether to sign up or not based upon a few pointless marketing words, they're not worth having as supporters

Ok V12, let's say you're a new resident to Casey, looking for a team to support and buy a membership with. You hear people talk about the great work the MFC does in the area. You look at the ladder, see where we are, probably turns you against us, but you look at the Club's website for more inspiration to join. You look at the membership packages and it's "First and Forever" that you see. What does that mean to a potential new member? We finished rock bottom in 2012, and that's the best we can come up with for 2013?

I, like most, will not let a marketing campaign determine if I'm going to renew. That doesn't mean I can't give the marketing department a spray if I feel worthy, and guess what, I do feel that way.

The only part of the campaign that ticks the box for me is the "Remember first - to play each game as if it were your last".

I demand improvement in 2013. I assume that the coach is the same. A membership campaign isn't going to do that, but it can show where the Club is at with their expectation of player and supporter.

I have re-signed!!! Sucker for punishment, but ya just not part of it unless your financial...

In the survey i made the suggestion that the fans should get to choose a draft pick... possibly stupid, but would be a massive promo for club and doubt we could that much worse than some of our previous recruitments... Members get to vote....

Really RP? I mean, REEEEEEALLY?

Oh dear. Thanks for confirming what most already knew in regards to your distrubingly low intellect.

Oh, god.

Did I offend Billy?

They are jokes - I do like Will Ferrell movies more than most.

Why don't we chalk this one up to rpfc being off the mark, and Billy being a total chore.

I have trouble writing 'me' - don't like it for some reason...

Back on topic - I think that you go through a new motto/motif/whatever every year and I think it is something positive about the past that we all take for granted - we were the first - and something that seemingly none of us will take for granted - that the MFC will be around well after we are all dead.

I re-signed me and my kids. Not that slogan's matter to me but we could have gotten a picture of Ivan Drago from Rocky 3 and put Jack Viney's head on him with the quote "I must break you" underneath.

I like to think of Jesus as a CHF in a Demon jumper taking a strong grab 30m out straight in front. He's got long hair that glistens and I am 20 rows back in the pocket - hammered drunk.

I remember Essendon, and that victory was a sweet as the cream pie for which the team is named

Good for you! Guess where we are now? Last.

What is wrong with "Through and Through"? It touches on history (nod to Schwab) but also sends out a call to arms. It acknowledges the hard times we've faced in the last half-decade but reminds members of the club's will to push on. With the passion that rages through us, we will see it through. Et cetera, et cetera.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
