INSANITY RULES AT THE AFL

Featured Replies

This is surely just another knee-jerk reaction to potential threats to the AFL's new darlings, and all it will achieve is the creation of another band of liars.

the way i see it is that you can approach to talk as long as its non binding - the way i see it geelong would be fine doing what they did!

and whats to stop rich clubs just saying, [censored] it we dont care, heres 100k and here is your man in our jumper

It's not a new rule. They just doubled the penalty that's all

Just more window dressing. Will change nothing

Scully didnt sign up with GWS while he was playing with us...did he? (Sorry couldnt resist). Oh thats right it was legal last year and this year too ...but ummm not anymore. Yeah right.

Watch for a swathe of stories re "did he sign or didn't he" in the coming years, and some scully in front of the cameras denying the rumours and saying how badly he wants to be "a one club player". Or Maybe it will be a bit like tanking. It will only be proved and punished when WE do it and our ex president comes out and says he couldn't possibly stay watching for a full game knowing we signed so and so during the season.

I think Im jaded.

How great would it be if the club came out and said its raising money to pay for the 3-4 100k fines coming our way next year for all the gun players we are publicly grabbing during the year.

I'd donate to that!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
