Look at the big picture Demonlanders!!!

In the past i have written something similar. I personally have had a gutful of the painful performances/recruiting in the last 5 years. I want to start going to the football to watch the Dees win instead of looking towards seasons end and recruiting. I want my kids to grow up being passionate dees and watching there heros strut there stuff. But here is how i see our current situation/ rabble if you like to call it.

MARK NEELD-

Neeldy has come from a very successful background both from Collingwoods greatness in recent years and at levels below AFL and he knows what it takes to be a top football team. He is very clear in what game style he wants our players to play with being open to tweaking it here and there to suit. People/doomsayers saying the gameplan is dated either have rocks in there head or dont know alot about footy. If you go on that theory Hardwicks gameplan ala Hawthorn of 2008 is outdated..... Longmuire of Sydney ala Paul Roos 2005....... therefore Collingwood of 2010? Gameplans change all the time. Neeldy before being appointed coach only foccussed on melbourne once a year as an opposition assistant coach, now im sure he has a fair idea of who he thinks has it who doesn't and who he will move on. Just like what Hardwick did at the end of 2010 as his first season as coach.

LEADERSHIP-

We have 2 of the youngest captains in AFL/VFL history although on current form have been struggling will in time be great for our club. However our senior players needed this season to give the pair of Jacks some much needed guidence in which they have failed badly. Brent Moloney in 2011 was getiing 30 touches nearly every week and was rated a top midfielder in the comp. 2012 he has hardly touched it and looks down the barrel of maybe being unemployed.

MIDFIELD-

With out doubt we have the worst midfield in the comp. No skill Pace or depth on our list. For instance Richmond have elite players in Cotchin, Deledio, Martin, Foley and good serviceable players in Houli, Grigg, Mullet Maric, Nahas and Morris. We on the other hand only really have Jones, Trengove, Blease as decent mids the rest ??????????. You wont win many games with out speed and quality in the midfield. simple.

RECRUITING-

It frustrates and pisses me off to se players like Martin, Dangerfield, Rioli, Sidebottom, Beams etc that were taken after our picks being successful. We dont like it but now we have to deal with it. That is why this years draft/ free agency/ trade period is vital that we can hopefully bring in a mixture of exciting talent and some much needed serviceable experience to the list. Listen to Mark Neeld on the coaches office on the melbourne website he states that we currentley dont have enough experienced players that can sustain 4 full quaters of footy. David Schwarz on SEN said Dees will be really agressive at seasons end in terms of recruitment. Hope so.

TRAVIS CLOKE-

I have no dramas of Melbourne going after Travis Cloke, even though his kicking can be ordinary at times the guys is a gurellia who can take a strong grab. We need another forward who can help support Clark and we cant be too dependent on Clark either. If Cloke came to Melbourne at seasons end he and Clark would be our forwardline for nearly the next decade, just like Franklin/Roughead of Hawthorn.

Well articulated points however, if the MFC wants us humans to keep paying to watch this team, they will need to pull their collective fingers out very very quickly. The good will by supporters is currently parked outside the undertakers.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
