3 weeks for Wellingham is a joke!

get with it....He's COLLINGWOOD !!!!! different rules apply

I think it should have gone straight to the tribunial; no discounts.

That was my thought as well, there are incidents that are deemed too much for MRP and can't have discounts attached to it. That should've applied here and it should've been minimum 4 weeks. The bloke has a fractured jaw and will be out for four weeks.

With the Frawley incident, the footage on the AFL website is the first i've seen it again, and apart from it looking worse than what I thought at the game I've got to give credit to Riewoldt for staying with and clearly being concerned about Chip.

I certainly think double discounting (as in this case) should be discretionary

He should have only got one of the discounts

i an't believe his hit has been graded the same as trengove's tackle last year......the MRP and AFL are making a mockery of our game.

theyve been doing that for a long long time. Muppets.

It wasn't:

Wellingham: 5 weeks, reduced to 4 because he has played long enough for a clean slate, reduced to 3 with early plee.

Trengove: 3 weeks, hasn't played long enough to earn a clean slate, challenged finding, no reduction

Having said that, should have gone strait to tribunal; dog act was deliberate.

Ed.: bold highlight

Poor old Wellingham

If he had gotten Colin he would have been free to play next week

Get over it people. Some of you have played Footy would know about intent and split second decision making in football so I'll give yas all a lesson "Fence style" from my experience!

Commitment to contest? Wellingham was committed and he would have been dragged if less committed!

Launch into air? Yeah well maybe only aspect which was unfortunate! Well we sanitise the game so much these days and Footy today is nowhere near like it was in the seventies or Eighties. The old fashioned shirt front was a thing to behold!

Busted Jaw? Yeah well unfortunate and by Wellinghams admission not the desired outcome, but footy is a tough game!! I copped the same injury in similar circumstances when I played and cracked one or two myself in heat of battle.Unfortunate but part of a tough sport.. Or at least it used to be!!

Real Question would we be spewing as much if Wellingham was one of our own??

Yeah I thought so

I would gladly have Wellingham at the Dees and in this instance in heat of battle things do happen! I am prepared to give Wellingham the benefit of the doubt this time.

I really love watching Rod Grinter and Byron Pickett' running around in the Red and Blue. What I would give for a reincarnated version of these two today! Might just give us a touch of intimidation, something we sure do lack, eh?

Cameron gets off and is still eligible for the Rising Star Award.

If the penalty is over a month, you should get no dispensation for good behaviour.

Yeah I thought so

Gees I used to love blokes like Byron Pickett and Rod Grinter running around for us

Didn't you?

Wish we had em back !! Now like the sound of that!!

Ok I'll bite. Split second my arse! The guy ran 40m to a marking contest and still didn't get his hands anywhere near the pill.

Instead this gutless wonder tucked his arm in and launched into the air breaking a truly brave ball player going back with the flight.

Tough sport? Well it still is. Just wonder if Kade Simpson was your son would you still have the same opinion on that being just part of the game.

I've played footy too. I'm sure many on here have. Have been on the receiving end of plenty and done a few things I'm not proud of but I still know that Wellingham's act was against all tough football is about.

Be interested to see if he has what it takes to go back with the flight next time against Carlton.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
