A lovely cheese is Boak

Cheesy Binman, but I've heard he's matured himself in OAK since being in SA. Barossa a favourite haunt?

No he hasn’t, but it is pretty obvious that he would rather play for either Geelong or Port Adelaide. To land him we would have to cough up an obscene amount of money and beat the market in terms of draft picks/players to satisfy the Power. I would love to see Boak in a demon jumper but not at the cost which would be required.

Question, if we have to give all that, what will any other team have to give, including the Cats.

Why the hell would we trade 4 and 12 for boak + 7? We could offer 12 alone and cats could not match that pick for port. In addition we can up geelong's salary offer easily. Win for boak and port.

Port may want a bit more than Pick 12 alone, to feel they've been compensated.

They are re building so I'd consider Pick 12 + a Player + our 3rd Rnd Pick.

A player like Beamer + the picks,,, or Rivers if he's interested,,, or the picks + a ruck (Spencer), or P12 + Martin. Something like these.

It is a hard call, pick 4 could be Morton or Pendelbury or Judd ect

Do you take Boak who i think is no better than Jones or do you take ths risk for a chance at a superstar

We take both, but we do not trade away our original first 2 picks. Unless in the U-17 mini draft.

That's not a potshot, that's the truth. Giving all that up for Travis Boak would be highway robbery.

Oliver Wines already looks a far more interesting prospect anyways.

Absolutely, DN.

Thats why We should Not use any pick inside the top 10 for Boak... Mid Rnd pick plus other picks OK, or + plus players OK.

Neeld loves his contested ball winners, but we also desperately need pace and skill.

Apart from Cloke or some other experienced players through free-agency, i wouldn't go trading away any picks in the top 20.

Now we can all dream of getting Viney in the second round, it's less likely to happen, but our luck is bound to turn around some time soon!

Sure it's all speculative and i'm sure i did this only 3 years ago coming into the 2009 draft, but anways:

pick 3 - Toumpas

pick 4 - Wines/??? tough inside player with good disposal and speed (not break neck)

pick 13 - Kennedy (about as likely as getting Viney in the second round)

pick 24ish - Viney

Our midfield problems should*** be taken care of from this draft if it were to pan out this way

Getting Cloke through FA would be the cherry on top. The impact won't be immediate, as we'd still be very young, but given that mids take less time to come on than KPP's, our new young mids should be starting to have an impact, just as our young talls begin to establish themselves at AFL level.

I think we are out of the running for Boak actually.

He said that money isnt a factor but success is. North and Geelong have gone to see him personally, and his manager actually sort North's interest not the other way around.

Clarke was supposed to have a lot in common with the purple wiggle when he decided to leave brisbane. So in saying that I don't believe anything about trade rumours and where players want to go.

He is going to Geelong, the man who wooed Norf to pick up Andrew Swallow and was a one time U19's coach at the club has told me that the chances of Norf getting Boak are as long as the Geelong Highway!

good saves us trading pick 4 for boak that was being suggested!

That's if Port are happy with what North are willing to give up for him. If Port aren't happy then he either tries to find a new home or go to the draft. Nothing is set in stone if Port aren't happy.

Trust me mate, he's as good as gone, and he says the HMac won't be there next year because of the ruck situation, Majak is very lucky to be getting another year too.

I could have told you all 3 of those things. He's obviously not bloody nostradamus.

But is it decided just as Caddy to Essendon was a fait accompli last year?

All we need to do is offer more than Geelong to throw a spanner in the works.

Exactly I'll take more from someone with info from Port Adelaide as they are the ones who will decide where Boak goes.

I don't see how Melbourne would even be an option for Boak...

He either goes with his head (Geelong) or he goes with his heart (Port Adelaide). The money will be good whichever way he goes.

Would take ridiculous cashola for him to even consider the MFC over those 2.

Valuable coin that could be put to far better use.

Wait... WHAT?

Both are about the heart.

Geelong or any other team in Melbourne, so he can be close to his family.

Port because of his friends.

It's a decision between FRIENDS and FAMILY.

Money, finals contention, etc will be a sweetener if he decides to come back to VIC.

Heart is staying with a crap team for the sake of your mates, loyalty and rewarding the team that initially gave you a chance at the big time.

Going with your head is joining arguably the best midfield in the competition (bar the ruck) and never having to worry about a serious tag ever again.

I think his hearts in Geelong - obviously with his family, etc.

His heart probably also being in Port with his mates.

His head would definately be telling him to head home, which we all expect he will.

We wouldn't knock back Boak, but we don't neccessarily need him.

Whereas with Mitch Clark, we really needed the bloke.

Are you kidding? (don't answer that)

We need a Boak type like we need air to breathe and we are in the box seat to get him.

Port Adelaide will only care about who can offer up the best deal otherwise he runs the risk of ending up at GWS.

Simple as that.

  • 3 weeks later...

Right. With Cloke off the radar we should be doing all we can to entice Trave Boak to the Dees.

We NEED this guy in our midfield starting round 1, 2013.

I am really sorry and ithink you all know this in your hearts, as much as id LOVE to see Travis Boak leading us to melbournes 13th premiership.. i do not believe he will be at Melbourne in 2013. Whoever can post whatever articles they want its really unlikely to ever happen. Boak has interest in Geelong and Port Adelaide are going to fight tooth and nail to keep him.

If we offer Boak a stack of money hell consider but im pretty hellbent on the fact he is not coming to the demons.

I've heard we are prpeared to offer Port pick 4 for him. Not saying I agree with it but I have heard this may be the case.

No-one could trump that so if Boak decided he wants to come home to Melbourne it may well be the MFC or no dice.

travis boak has turned us down but we are still going to be in his ear. from an inside source we will not STOP until boak has signed on the dotted line anywhere. the clark deal has proved that and gave the club greater confidence in sercuring anyone.

If that involves a swap of draft picks including pick 7 then I am OK with that. It can be used on an inside mid like Oliver Wines without any risk of bidding overs for him.

Entering next season with Viney, Wines, Boak and Hogan in training? Giddy up.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
