Tom Couch

Why on earth is Tom Couch still not playing in the seniors. He's been Casey's best for the last 3 weeks and he wasn't even named as an EMERG for the Richmond game!!! Aaron Davey gets back into the team because he did a few running sessions in Perth. What a joke!!!

I would expect that to change round 4 against the Dogs

With so many excellent father son results that the Cats have had i have been surprised he was overlooked in the draft

Not sure what other clubs have seen as shortcomings not to have picked him up

Team balance is the only thing keeping couch out of the team, if his foot speed and disposal was better he would be playing ahead of Aaron Davey. But he is a slow in and under midfielder, competing for spots with manger, jones and players of that ilk, that being said he might get his way into the team this week as the only player with real form under his belt, personally I would rather we play petterd, tynan or Nicholson. but if we are looking to play another inside midfielder he might get the chance, although i would still prefer Moloney(if fit) to slot in even after a few weeks off!

Yes, team balance is important, IF your outside mids are running and spreading and getting uncontested possessions that fuel your attacks.

Our outside mids are not.

I would prefer a slow midfield that works hard (eg. Nathan Jones) than pacy mids who don't do enough.

funyyoumention that as I note that when we are onthe 'burst' we seem to hesitate and get befuddled as to where exactly we're supposed to be running to , often allowing another defender to drop into a covering position and further stem our 'flow'

We often look slow

I agree, but the only way our pacy mids are going to get to the right place is through game time, they need to practice and watch the match replays and learn from their mistakes.

To be honest Tom couch is a filler, i can't see him breaking onto our primary list, and he isn't really what the team needs to win matches so I wouldn't be playing him!

He is good to have as back up.

Although if bate is removed from the team then maybe couch has a spot, but I still see him behind moloney, jones, magner, mckenzie for that inside mid role

Hey here is an idea. Why don't we gift them some games. It's done Morton the world of good......

Ask Dean Bailey his thoughts on it...

But Dean Bailey showed he didn't know how to develop players. Mark Neeld, Neil Craig, Dave Misson and the rest are probably far better at that than Bailey ever was. So much has changed since the DB era, so you can't expect the same results from giving players more matches if they need it. Look at how James Hird's faith in Patty Ryder has helped his development. He's currently in All-Australian form despite everyone calling for his head last year.

WE recruited the kid, then upgraded him from the rookie list.

He has put in some good games at Casey

We have lost the first three games by an average 10 goals

Been belted in the mid field every week.

Why hell would we not play him this week.

What are we waiting for?

Agree witht this comment, guys on the ball need fast minds and hands.

Look at what on ballers do, they only take a few steps "inside" the contest and need quick reaction time to decide where to go tp get the ball, then where to dispose of the ball (awareness).

They only need to be fast enough to get to the next contest.

Perhaps rotate Moloney, Couch, Jones and Magner in pairs?
