Have we had any from 'Men at Work'?

What a great album was Business as Usual ... all the tracks stood up, and unique

Pub rock back in the day

Two of, in my opinion, the best pop songs produced in this country (a couple of decades apart from each other)…

Musicians likes these inspire me to pick up guitar again... and then throw it away. Incredible talent.

Might add this one...fascinating band the Reels.

First met them at the Station Hotel and they were kind of a prog rock band then they morphed into a pop band with songs like Prefab Heart but Quasimodo's is the one for me (I liked all by the way).

RIP Jeff...over the journey probably the greatest of the rock guitar players.

A photo I took of JB at Bluesfest a few years ago.

The Reels were a brilliant band. I used to see them at French’s in Sydney in the very early 80’s and then saw them after a few years when the were touring the Neighbors album that contained all of the cover tunes as well as a revamped Shout and Deliver. I know the bass player Paul Abrahams… he now plays upright bass in bluegrass bands.

Typically I listen to Zakk for his playing rather than lyrics but I always thought Sonic Brew was a great sing-along album.

Been getting into this young fella from down the Otways of late. Seen him a few times around Melbourne and also up at the Riverboats Music Festival in Echuca.

Released his first album this week and it debuted at number 3 on the ARIA country charts above Lee Kernaghan, Keith Urban and Slim Dusty. Not bad for a kid from the bush. Been a while since I've embedded a link so hope this works!

Very percussive.  A friend reckoned that standing up near the stage was like being caught in a pin-ball machine.  Possibly when they first hit Melbourne from Dubbo.  Still loved them.

Not a proper music video, just a visualiser. But love how they can blend genres and good to see them blowing up this year. New album came out last week.

An incredible talent Lowell George, many, many interesting stories...

Fellow Melbourne supporter David Briggs in fine form.

Pretty sure they toured with Little Feat among others back in the day.

Yes, he played with The Mothers of Invention for a while. Unfortunately he always had weight issues which eventually caught up with him. I was lucky enough to see them at Festival Hall in 1976… fantastic band.

One story of his that touched me was when asked about his guitars he said he had owned a heap Strats (can't remember the number) but they'd all been stolen over the years.

He recounted a story of the band staying at a seedy motel and he stayed up all night watching the truck to make sure it wasn't stolen...well he must of dozed off for a minute because when he opened his eyes it was gone along with another Strat.

This got me to reading his history on Wikipedia, and it turned up a few interesting factoids, such as his first band Lowell George and the Factory, appeared on both F-Troop and Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.

His time with Zappa was also interesting as were the circumstances leading to his exit from the Mothers… from, he was caught smoking dope, to, he wrote a song (Willin) about smoking dope, to, it was suggested by Zappa that he leave the Mothers and form his own band.

Yes Zappa despite appearances was very anti drug.

A friend tells the story of some band members sneaking a smoke with him when they were in Melbourne in the 70's.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.
