3 km time trial - Friday 4 November, 2011

Featured Replies

This is what I heard:

PART A: "Getting a good 3k result doesn't mean you'll have a good year."

PART B: "Cale Morton didn't get a good 3k result, therefore he must not have any good qualities at all."

Part A is correct Chook, yes.

Part B was seperate. I am bringing Morton up because so many people love him for his running capabilities. But apparently he didn't run with the first group of runner's on Monday's training and I haven't heard his name mentioned for the 3km time trial.

I am wondering why.

Is he injured?

He wasn't in the rehab group so why is he not leading the running sessions?

This is a bit of a guess but the order looks like:

Jones, Bail, Nicholson, Red Shirt, T MacDonald, Morton, J MacDonald

Edited by Roger Mellie

It's not Tom. Watch the video of them running around the oval as a pack (0:13s) - you'll see Mcdonald in a blue top with Bate, Jamar and Davis, whilst the guy in the red is further back and he is definitely shorter than the rest (and looking at his watch - pretty sure he is some sort of fitness guy).

Yeah, fair enough, you're right.

I assumed it HAD to be him, cos he looked a little like him, he was actually a bit back from the others, and Tom was named as coming in forth.

But you're right about being able to see him earlier in the video, and even later at about 1:25secs you get a better look at Tom in the blue top near the front of the pack. That's more of the height I remember too.

In any case, my favourite bit is at 0:11 secs when one of the blokes kicking just over Misson's shoulder falls on his arse.

Not sure who it is though.

So the order is Jones, Bail, and Nicholson and then no-one knows and it is just speculation, extrapolation, and postulation?

Glad we cleared this up for everyone.

The guy in the red looks young to be a trainer. Could he be someone who's come in to train with us early? Could he be Jack Viney? He looks to be just short of Jones' height, which puts him a little under 180cm, so the height would be about right. Not sure what he looks like though. If he is JV, then it's a hell of an effort keeping up with the top few runners.

It's not JV. And I doubt it's a player training with us. Odds on that he will be some sort of fitness bloke.

Welcome to the offseason.

It's a fitness guy.. He was the hare for the race. He was wearing a different colour top as he is apart of the fitness team

Maybe because he is not the "elite category runner" people thought he would be. Maybe he is just a very good runner ? Unfortunately, people don't prefer to spruik that, they would rather get off on the "elite" description. It must feel better....

Correct. Nath Jones has confirmed that it is a Uni kid working with the fitness team.

Some clanger that.

Is he apart from the Fitness Team, or is he a part of the Fitness Team.

Getting back to the time trial, I noticed when the first group came in, it seemed CS was running in Red, why was he the only one in red? Is this a discipline thing ?

Sorry missed the previous discussion about the gfuy in the red top, must admit I thought it looked like Col, that'll teach me !

glad there back training hard

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
