Further news on 'Better Call Saul' ... looks like the show might be a winner if the first episode is any sort of example.

Bob Odenkirk joins Andy Greenwald to discuss the premiere of 'Better Call Saul.'

'Fortitude' (airs on the ABC - starts this Sunday 15th)

A brand new drama that has received positive reviews (anything with Stanley Tucci in it is always worth a look)

Fortitude is a place like nowhere else on Earth.

Surrounded by the savage beauty of the polar landscape, its future sparkling with the promise of Arctic opportunity, wealth and discovery, Fortitude is one of the safest towns on earth.

There has never been a violent crime here. Until now.

... and there's more.

The same crew who did the Breaking Bad podcasts are back doing podcasts about 'Better Call Saul'

Here's the link ... Better Call Saul Podcasts

p.s ... Stan TV is airing the show in Australia

The new season of 'True Detective' has started ... Foxtel is showing the new series on their showtime channel.

Keep an eye out for 'Mr Robot' too ... looks another winner.

Fargo season 2 has started ... plenty of good reviews and there's a number of familiar and notable actors such as Ted Danson, Kirsten Dunst, Nick Offerman & Brad Garrett in this season (amongst a few others from season 1) On SBS later this month.

'Homeland' is back as well (ch10) and 'Narcos' is well worth a look - on Netflix.

Mr Robot is back (season 2)

Another show to keep an eye out for ... The Bridge (A Swedish/Danish production) The French/UK have done a remake of the show called The Tunnel but the first season of 'The Bridge' was very good.

Billions is also quite a good show and well worth a look.  Paul Giamatti & Damian Lewis are superbly cast as high-powered foes.

When did Mr Robot S2 start Macca?

Also Saul is a great prequel, really enjoying it.

Supposedly a show called IT Crowd is hilarious, I have not yet seen it.

Mr Robot (s02) has just started airing in the US so it's probably on 'Presto' (streaming) again ... you'll have to google etc.  IT Crowd is great but the show finished up some time ago.  Better Call Saul - excellent show.

I've found a lot of European drama worth watching for those who like their drama to be real-life/gritty ... I'll post up a summary of what I've come across down the track.

You know i can not explain what my tastes are using genre terms, some of the terms i do not even understand how they relate to the show. But then again i am a simpleton.

There's a miriad of stuff to watch these days ... something for everyone.

There's lots of stuff that doesn't necessarily appeal  but each to their own.

I've been watching Preacher and Outcast which are both new shows based on comics. I feel like they're dragging out a bit.

I watched the first few episodes of Outcast, from TWD people, and was very meh, too religion focused for my liking.

Haven't had a chance to have a look at Preacher but did get to meet Craig Rosenberg recently, who is a writer on the show. Great guy and doing very well over in the US (worked on Lost for a long time), as are many other Australian film/TV people at the moment!

I just re-watched the original The Office and the brilliance of this show just blows me away every time. Still Gervais' best work by a mile, and craps all over the American version.

There's a show called 'Ascension' on Netflix that has an interesting premise. Kennedy approves and launches and inter-generational spaceship in the 60's in secret, with the aim of preserving the human race in case of nuclear war. Now, 50 years later, the ship is populated by the children and grandchildren of the original crew, and has its own political system and society. The ship is rocked by its first ever murder and they are completely unequipped to investigate and handle the situation.

It sounds very interesting.

Do not be fooled. It is horrible. Stay well clear.

Black Books  was recommended to me - I have watched two episodes and havent really cracked a smile - anyone else seen and have an opposite view ? Should I persevere ?

I also loved it. The first episode it probably the weakest.

batting two for two - i will keep on going.

Update: I'm still enjoying Preacher (but I'm behind) I liked the comics a lot better. Outcast is getting boring.

2 very disappointing shows are Vinyl & Roadies...some impressive people behind both (Jagger/Scorsese & Cameron Crowe) but total flops. How could they get it so wrong.

Not sure if there will ever be a good rock drama on the tele?????

Nashville is a good soap & guilty pleasure on Country music.

Okay - I am a man with a short attention span and commitment issues. I am devoted to Game of Thrones and that is pretty much it however we are going away for almost a month over September ( I got that right...)  - what series should I download and take with me ?

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
