I heard a rumour this morning that the thought had entered the head of our football department that Harvey could want to coach his own team after a stint at Carlton & St Kilda. If he didn't it maybe a worthwhile case to place Royal as Casey coach and bring Harvey into the fold as our midfield coach.Thoughts?

For Casey I would be hoping for someone that wants to use it as a stepping stone to an AFL gig, we do need a strong presence at Casey though to ensure our players there are playing a similar style as Melbourne does.

Happy with Royal as our midfield coach. It was a little disturbing the way Grant Thomas was so dismissive of Harvey as a coaching possibility at the Saints.

To demote Royal in such a way would be untenable.

You cannot have someone put in a job and then demoted inside of a month.

There is one position left and that is the head coach of Casey.

If Harvey is suitable and interested...

tomato bbq or soy ?

I'm still confused - what on earth is Kelly O'Donnell's role im all this ?

He was a Development Coach last I heard.

Robert Harvey to Collingwood I believe I heard today.

I heard that too but I think they were guessing, as Buckley was open to him going there. Probably will happen all the same.

What a journalist guess; never Redleg that just wouldn't happen , would it?

It could if the stars aligned.

Has been touted for most of the week now. Probably happen now., ...probably........maybe

Strangely, it makes sense for him to be Casey coach.

One thing he hasn't done is coach his own team.

Not sure if there's a lot of other opportunities to do that in the league.

Harvey would be another feather in the cap of this administration.

heard he going to pies

Announced today as Collingwood's midfield coach.

No loss really - didn't seem like a great communicator to me? Don't know the man, only on what I've seen over the years.....

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
