I know some were expecting a top 25 pick but this is more than I expected for Warnock.

GC obviously didn't want to use a PSD pick on him.

He isnt half as good as Clark, 25 twice his worth.

Also we have no need for him, and he would most likely walk,

We held very little power in the Warnock situation

They were throwing picks in 20's and 30's away to get a higher pick. Would have been nice to get a bit higher unless they were still angling for Caddy. That looks shot now.

Good luck Matty Warnock................always saw him try his best for the MFC, and you can't ask anymore of that from a player!

In retrospect YES, or even Warnock and our 50ish for their 30ish

I wish him all the best, he was good for us in a dark period. Took a lot of pressure off Frawley when he was developing, I'm sure he'll do well with GC.

I thought this too.

Although nice to get something for Warnock, and around the mark of his value too IMHO, but the way GC were haemorrhaging picks in the 30s, you'd think they'd throw us a slightly nicer bone.

GC wanted him and Caddy wanted out.. why couldn't we fashion a deal to make all happy?

Are there going to be better prospects we can spend our compo picks on?

We could have been the biggest winners this trade period if we landed Clark and Caddy. If we got 39 for Bate that may have also been a good outcome, although time will tell on that one.

At least we still have a pair of aces up our sleeve..

Yes, but a gun in the hand would be better than two picks up your sleeve, don't you think?

I agree, but if Caddy wants to leave GC will have to eventually help facilitate that move or potentially lose him for nothing. Then two picks up the sleeve become more valuable than jack shite.

Ok, obviously they just want to squeeze the last year out of him and then resign to losing him next year, whilst still getting high bids as no one will let him go to the open market.

Sneaky. Essendon got played. What would a mediation process do if they already knocked their offer on the head. Waste time. LOL

It would have been good to package Warnock and 54 for a higher pick than 52, but with a swag of draft picks, GC were already trading multiple draft picks for one draft pick in order to lessen their quantity of picks but improve the quality. This move for Warnock and a later pick would have been the reverse for them. In the end, I think we've done ok for Warnock, especially since seemingly no other clubs came to the party. At least we got something, and our third (and likely/hopefully our final) pick in the draft is 54 instead of 72.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
