Cam Bruce has announced his retirement from the Hawks.

Really a pity it was from Hawthorn and not from the MFC.

Should have been at the Dees during 2011.

Good luck in the future CB.

You gave me a lot of joy over the years at the Dees.

Not only that Old Dee but we're running out of "running" player options too !! lol

Agree.

I don't know exactly what took place through negotiations etc, but I gather there's much to do with MFC's list management and Bruce's true market value at the time being the sticking points.

Had he signed on reasonable circumstances, he'd have chalked up 250 games as a one club player.

Not to be. That said, he was a good servant and representative of the MFC during his time at Melbourne.

Is it just me?

I think I have lost enthusiasm for the season.

Left the game on saturday and retired to the pub for a couple before the trip home.

My mate said it is three weeks before the next game at the G

Just looked at each other and the feeling was who cares.

I think the results so far, injuries, certainity of results and "we have been here every year for the last 5" have drained my will.

Struggled to get even the enthusiasm to even come on Demonland till yesterday.

I think I am over the multi threads on here talking about which players will go, which players to draft etc.

When on earth will we have the prospect of making the finals, discussing the possibility of winning games start?

Early july and another season is done.

I used to worry about losing games now I expect to lose

I think the MFC have drained me.

Welcome to the masochists club.

Is it just me?

No, it's just not you.

I want the feeling of enthusiasm back....the spring in the step.

It won't happen whilst the cue is in the rack.

The cue can leave the rack after we lose to Port and the Dogs beat the Blues.

This is exactly what I am talking about Redleg.

When did we start hoping not to win?

Any way I keep telling you there is no problem.

We have one possibly 2 wins to go this year.

It does not matter what the teams above us do

If Port and Dogs win this week I will agree with you.

Correct IMO. Buy some breathing space. Otherwise we may see a GC or GWS game I don't want to see.

I will be very happy to watch those two games, one live at the G and one on TV, hoping for a win.

I am with you there.

In fact Redleg I hope we win more games I do not give a stuff where we finish on the ladder.

I want the rush of winning.

To hell with draft picks we have done that for 5 years.

Just win games and worry about drafting in November.

I will be too, following your first point.

Now calm down Old Dee. Why as a football fan would you want your team to win?

Seriously I have said to myself, " self this is the last year that you should put up with this sh-t" . To that end, I want the best drafting/trading position possible and then I will pray to God that we don't stuff up. We can fix our side with one good off season and I think this is the one to do it. It really is now or never for many Dees fans.

Good title for a thread Redleg for the off season, "Now or Never"

Sadly I agree not sure there are any more trips to the well left for a lot of Dees fans.

While I want us to win as many games as possible Redleg The reality is 2 is I think the Max.

I really think we will struggle to beat both GWS and GCS.

Go Dees ( spoken in a soft voice with no conviction )

Might use it.

Two thirds of the way through the season and 14% of the list is out for the year. Another few are close and LJ has already missed the season.

Might use it.

ah huh !! :)

Redleg another is out injured.

This time McKenzie is there ever a week we do not have an injury?

We must be the worst going around.

Poor old Brad Scott. He can't sleep at night worrying about the state of the game.

Poor li'l possum

What could we suggest for him to get some sleep, would hate to see him miss training - apart from Stilnox but

Great drug with a bad reputation DC

Handy one to blame when you screw up.

A bit like blaming the car when some idiot does some stupid and causes pain and death.

Send some free samples to Scotty.

I hear there are plenty floating around at the Tigers.

Well who would have believed it. Last night I blended a banana into my diet shake and kept reblending after each cup. Ended up swallowing a whole lot of air with my drink. Up all night burping from both ends. I don't blame the banana but what a night.

Whats that got to do with footy, well nothing, but we have been so bad that I have resorted to this rubbish.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
