It is starting to look like we are facing an orchestrated opposition by the other clubs to stop us getting a PP pick.

If the AFL agrees I hope we go as hard as hell for a couple of mini draft picks that we have to trade away. That could be better than a PP anyway. We would get more than one player for a start.

Personally would prefer a mini . More to gain i think without costing other clubs much.

I don't understand why it wouldn't cost other clubs much, when the best player or two is removed from the next year's draft.

I guess that shows the value of fixed rules for a PP -- it means that there is no point in other clubs whingeing about it. Once it is in the discretion of the AFL, as now, it is in every other club's interest to whinge about it, in the hope that this will minimise the chance of it happening. Perhaps I am just getting too old and cynical, but I think we should expect a thorough campaign of opposition from all 17 other clubs, simply as it is in their interest for us not to get a PP.

How shittey is my life? I support both the MFC and the ALP.

Well at the very least the ALP have taken over as the most shambolic organisation in this country. Well done MFC!

P.S.- it's my turn to bring morning tea to our team meeting on Friday, and bananas are looking very unappealing at the supermarkets. My whole plan is ruined. Oh well, the pricks don't pay me enough to feed them as well!

still some nice bananas around.. Bought some yesterday. Oddly they can vary greatly from area to area.

My local independent market/grocer often have nicer ones than Woolies, not to say they dont often but Im spoilt for choice occasionally.

Whip up a nice banana cake. You can even use ones that are a bit over-ripe.

The Oracle has something to say about this in his match preview this week.

I can't see AFL helping us with money and not on the field with some draft help. If we continue to perform on the field like this year we will need more money. I t just makes sense to help us on the field as well.

I could also imagine a Coach coming to us would want an AFL guarantee of some help on the field as well.

As mentioned in other threads it doesn't have to be a PP. It could be a mini draft type of help with say two picks we have to trade. That could get us some experienced players and an extra draft pick or two in this years draft without compromising the draft.

I suspect that the other clubs might warm to this if they see some talent at the Under 18 championships (which continue today) and who fit in the mini draft category. Based on the form of Jaeger O'Meara at the Suns, to a lesser extent Brad Crouch at Adelaide and the tantalising prospects of Jack Martin and Jesse Hogan, we can expect some clubs preferring to wait a year for a sure fire talent and trade combinations of picks and players to get them.

Apologies in advance for not bringing up the banana theme but I have yet to check the Queensland lists for any up and coming young bananabenders whose families breed alpacas.

That sounds harder to find than a decent player WJ.

Suggest your spend your time on a good player search.

No experience with alpacas? No worries - a 12-month apprenticeship with BBO will set you right!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
