Would love to win this week and get in the eight, just to query those who said we as a solvent club, should be put in administration by the AFL.

Not that Range Rover would give two hoots..

I think Range Rovers can only hoot once.

I meant even though we were solvent, yet because we lost a couple of football games, some were urging the AFL to take us over. It was just absurd to suggest it, if one had even the slightest knowledge of Corporate Law.

Thank you after I re read the sentance it it does make sense , obviously my brain was on by pass that day.

Sorry

Is it just me, or is anyone else sick of the saturation Anzac day coverage of the same 2 clubs that play every year. It seems to be even more than GF week.

Also, why rave about the Anzac day medal, when only 2 clubs are eligible?

Probably because the two clubs did such a great job promoting the day that it finally became entrenched on the AFL's calendar.

There was a time when it was suggested that we promote the Melbourne - Sydney rivalry with a game on the evening of Anzac Day but nothing ever came of it. I think we need to be more proactive in developing such games.

I agree. I think there's an opportunity for 3 games on Anzac Day. I would suggest that the NZ game is kicked off first at around 12:00 our time (2pm NZ time). Then the Essendon v Collingwood game at the G at 2:40pm.

There is an opportunity for another game in the west (ie. Derby match Freo/WCE) OR in Darwin at night.

I think it might be worth the club pursuing the Darwin game at night on Anzac Day. Australians recall that Darwin was bombed by the Japanese during WWII.

This gives the AFL and clubs an opportunity to all play on ANZAC Day. With three games at three separate times with no overlapping. St.Kilda could play someone different every year. And Melbourne could play someone different every year in Darwin.

Three ANZAC medals given out gives the opportunity for all participants a chance to receive one if best on ground. Not just Essendon and Collingwood players + Dan Hannebery.

No I accept that it is entrenched on the AFL calendar, it is just the saturation coverage of these 2 clubs this week that annoys me. Yes it is Anzac day and a big crowd, but this is an 18 team competition and the winner still gets 4 points. I just think it is way over the top. However, I am sure their sponsors are delighted.

Redleg this is what happens when you are a power club of the competition.

Large supporter base, well performing teams and Lots of folding green.

Power creates money.

As much as it saddens me they deserve it.

The mfc are part of the minnows at the other end of the scale.

Start winning lots of games is the only solution and even then it would take a decade to be on

equal footing with these two.

Having a night game ANZAC Day in Darwin would make a sponsor(s) happy....

In Healesville today and there is a great little cafe, that if memory serves me well, makes fantastic banana bread. Hopefully Mrs. Redleg will let me have a slice for lunch.

As long as it could be done so both teams have a proper break before and after the game so that their season is not compromised. I am talking about the future of course, as this season would not be compromised as it is already only about player development and a few wins at best.

How could you even think such a thing let alone say it on this thread?

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
