Prepare for the pain on 28th April.

The only concern I have is the performances and progress of those in my team, old dee.

I couldn't care less how former MFC players go at opposition clubs. Just like I couldn't care for Travis Johnstone and other former players who have had little influence after leaving and only seemed to perform when it suited them, not necessarily when required or on a consistent basis. There is however one exception.

Scott Thompson still burns.

May have something to do with the fact he is up to now the only really good one that left H_T.

....and wells, alves, healy?

Who could blame them dc.

The first two got to play in GF's something they would never had done at the MFC at the time.

They were also in the twilight of there career's.

They had given the MFC great service.

Healy Swans 5 years 104 games- career twilight?

dc Did you miss I said "the first two"

stuart spencer, donny williams?

Gee dc you are getting back a bit and they did not go to VFL clubs and in the case of DW he came back and played in the 64 flag.

Hell that seems a long time ago even when I say it.

the wizard didn't?

Thompson to me is considered utterly consistent in terms of output. He doesn't perform when it suits him, he performs when required dc. That was the point I was making.

The Wiz was good, every now and then. Thompson to me is a more valuable player.

darren jolly?

who that bum that could not get a lick and lucked into two flags at Sydney and Collingwood.

Hardly worth mentioning.

Re Beamer & Martin and even Gysberts I care because they were all victims of coach Neeld. We have all forgotten how he sacked the old leadership group including Rivers at the start last year and cleaned out the club so he could get his players in and play his style of football. We all have short memories of his arrogant uncompromising attitude and angry manner (just ask players and staff around the club). There are 7 former players deemed good enough to get a game at other clubs that is an extraordinary number

Well now part of his assessment this year will be the performance of the team he has built as well as the players he discarded. Our ruck stocks are thin and I certainly didn't agree with giving Martin away. It is only February but he will be judged this year and remember how we all couldn't believe how the team could go from 8 and a half wins in 2011 and hope for improvement that led to a bottom 4 spot in 2012.

I don't know any one else that didn't see the need to make wholesale changes.

Ironically, if Healy had stayed he would have played in a grand final (and to be technical, Wells and Alves both got premierships, not just GFs). Wasn't Healy in the opposition team when we beat the Swans by about 80 points in the semi-final in '87?

Looks like the GWS have signed up at least half their list to extended contracts. Don't think the other clubs are going to be able to raid them as easily as they thought.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
