There's brown bananas, and there's brown bananas, but then there's the ones that have rotted on the inside first.

And the Hawthorn club colours too.

As they say, its what's inside that counts.

I had until now. What about the crazy maze? Or was it Krazy maze, is it still around?

Also haven't seen the pepermint crisp around. My mom used to smash it up and decorate the old Pavlova.

I also remember the Coleman's chips showbag. Bags were all under a dollar and were good value.

‘Tis still around, Deeves. It’s just had a name-change. It’s called a curly wurly now and has been so for many years.

Peppermint crisps are also still around, as are a personal favourite of mine, Peppermint Patties. Chocolate and mint = a marriage made in heaven. And not a marriage that only lasts a few years as is the norm nowadays, but a marriage like that of one’s grandparents: ‘til death do they part.

Your right. I had a curly wurly about a year ago. I do remember the pepermint patties as well. ( green wrap) I think it was the sister treat to the old coconut roughs.

We're probably showing our age with these posts but what a treat to go to the " milk bar" and buy a 10 cents bag of mixed lollies. Sherbet bombs, musk sticks, false teeth, mates, jaffas, freckles, milk bottles,  ( yuk) and even the odd fan tale thrown in.

I found the peppermint patties very ordinary, sort of soggy, but the peppermint crisp is a beauty.

I also remember the good old days of collecting bottles to return to the milk bar. Coke, Leeds and Fanta. I lived in St Kilda and there were lots to get. I stacked all my bottles down the side of the house waiting until I had achieved a certain fiscal outcome.

Then one day the price of return went from 10 to 20 cents overnight.

My portfolio had doubled in a heartbeat.  Oh happy days.

Yea but price wise they were good value. The kind of item when you didn't have enough funds to buy a fully fledged chocolate bar.

Are you two hearing yourselves?! Clearly not. The Peppermint Patty is the best chocolate treat ever. EVER. “Fully-fledged chocolate bar” Deeves? Really?!?! Anyone with half a brain knows that you never have just one. Minimum three, for mine. And Red, “soggy”???? I prefer “spongey” which is the texture that makes it unique.

What????? What is wrong with you?! Milk bottles (closely followed by *teeth) are the best lollies of all. My biggest complaint about mixed lollies is that there’s never enough of them. Jelly babies overload. 😠

* you don’t need to call them “false teeth.” No one is expecting to find real ones in the packet.

What were the flat white ones , the size of a 2 cent coin with a swirl on them?( tasted like milky bars).

Why would anyone want to eat a “spongy “ chocolate bar?

Unless of course you are 🦷 toothless.

Can you imagine 2 teams playing the last round to decide who gets Harley Reid?

Half of each side, if not more, would be managed.

Would be a great game to watch to see who can play worse.

What would be required for a “tanking investigation “ I wonder, or is that just another negative from the AFL reserved for us?

Don't you remember when we played Carlton for the Cruzer cup!?

Certainly do.

Whitnall missed about 5 gimme goals and Travis Johnson was left alone to pick up 150 uncontested possessions in addition to several good players being “managed “.

Not toothless, just love a spongey chocolate-coated treat, which is great in case I ever do end up toothless.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
