I get quite quivery when you say such nice things about me Ernie.

Not sure that would fit a 21st century "green" community Bbo. There would probably be protests about it ย not being native to the area and reducing the ability of people to walk their dogs.

Better still, plant a dope crop. Biffen can coordinate it

AS I said previously Mr. Leg we don't have anywhere to spend it.

There is no location now or in the medium term.

Oh, I see.

What suburb are you looking in Red?ย

Inner hipsville,ย old money or new money suburb, comfortable old middle class suburb, outer aspirational suburb, or new corridor growth suburb ?

Obviously near a very good greengrocer that can source the best bananas.ย

Unless I am mistaken Ernest he was referring to a "home" for the MFC. Unless we move to the outer suburbs then we will be on Goschs paddock for the foreseeable future.

Oh I dunno....I reckon a bit of land might appear at Docklands in the not too distant future ?????

Oh, I thought Red and Mrs Leg were looking for a new home! ย Thought he was downsizing or looking to expand to house lots of other Legs.ย

Rather stay at Goschs, at least it is close to the MCG. ย IMO any social club that is that far from our playing ground will get nine tenths of bugger all patronage. That element won't worry me because I don't need a social facility but for aย ย seemly large number of members it is vital. Win on QB game Monday and who is going to troop to ducklands?

A future at Goschs Paddock is not a future. ย No security of tenure, a gym complex shared by others and no sense that we have a training or high class facility. Just not sustainable. ย Location is great but itโ€™s not going to happen there. We missed out on other key venues such as the Olympic Complex and like all other clubs bar Collingwood, Richmond and Carlton we will have to compromise. Itโ€™s about having control over our own first rate professional set up, itโ€™s not about a social club that will only appeal to a few lonely middleย aged males.ย

OD...I couldn't give a rat's about a social club.ย  That's all a bit 70/80'sย

Happy for the club to have decent digs to train

Could not agree more bb but that does not seem to be the wish of the majority of members. They seem to want a social club. As there is no credible alternative at present then it is Goschs.

So where Ernest? In the absence of any credible alternative we are there for some time yet.

Agreed OD, we are at GP for the present, but Pert is there to find us a home. But it is going to be difficult with Yarra Park seemingly unacceptable.ย

Taking public land is a problem and going to draw major objections from many.ย  Although this did not stop Collingwood or Tennis Australia on their occupation and expansion on public hand. But I reckon the bird has flown. The reality is that most public land in central Melbourne is simply not there other than existing established parkland.ย  And it's going to be difficult to fund the acquisition of private land. In addition, central Melbourne and suburban Melbourne (other than outer Melbourne) have simply run out of space.

Perhaps, the Club could take over an existing suburban footy ground and develop it as a community asset a la the Bulldogs. However, we already have Casey. So from a practical and financial viewpoint Caseyย is the obvious location.ย  We have already spent a lot of money and invested in community and municipal relationship building.ย ย ย

I don't know about the availability of space at Docklands, but this is the other obvious location if you wanted a site in central Melbourne. Docklands is now an extension of Melbourne central and become a commercial and residential hub serviced by trams and Southern Cross.ย

Supporter viewpoints are influenced by where they live and what they consider as their "hood."ย Folks living out East will prefer Casey to Docklands but not folks from the West or North.ย  I useย Southern Cross regularly, so Docklands would be my preference but there you go. I would go to Docklands but not to Casey.ย

The end result will occur fromย a balance of financial andย community considerations, together with Government/municipal approval, and planning approvals etc.ย  Outcomes will need to be negotiatedย and compromises reached.

That tells you that the outcome is not going to be perfect. Consider the Hawks. They went from Glenferrie Oval to Waverley Park and now to Dingley.

Agree with all that Ernest but it would appear, you me and BB are at odds with the vast majority. Like BB said I just want good training facilities for the playing group where it is to be honest I don't care. The club seems to be locked into something close to the MCG. That bird has flown IMO so the saga drags on.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Nightโ€™s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourneโ€™s memorable premiership triumph.
