IMO i reckon the bunch as a whole are STARTING to tackle and pressure a lot more, and this stems from the likes of RANGA(luv him),TAPPY(yew) and GAWNY'S huge effort against Freo. Did ya see RANGA'S flying tackle, bloody rippa............

I also love his ability to keep the ball in our 50 and 'alive'. He is very creative and dangerous in they way he does this. if he can't have a shot or kick to a teammate he is fantastic with his hands, following and trapping the ball and pushing it around with his hands. Watts is also great in this way. Petterd was also doing this last year before he was injured. He really was our most potent forward before LJ returned.

Besides his tackling on Saturday the rest of his game was just ok but thats 100% fine by me -the rest will come. He doesnt look as dangerous as he did in the early part of last year as his disposal doesnt look as clean - but thats also ok.

I said it in the Howe thread and the same applies here. Not everyone will be 100% on their game every week but as long as you have some impact on the game then you have done your job. His tackling and his kamikaze attack on the ball made him more than valuable. Ricky more than did his job on Saturday and I put him in the best players purely based on his mantra of not letting the ball out of the forward 50 and committing 100% to every contest.

Ricky the tackle machine

Good on you dee TV for putting this together

Shows the players what is valued by the club.

No doubt kamikaze McKenzie leads the way in this area, perhaps we can ironically call him Kam McKenzie.

Other players must hate him he is like a mosquito buzzing around them and the ball but i love the guy and Petterd's efforts on the weekend

That's not irony.

Irony would be me saying that Morton was our best tackler.

It's from a will farrel movie Taledage nights where the main characters name is Ricky Bobby.

Can't believe people didn't know this. What, did they think it was his middle name? ha ha ha Now that's funny.

For anyone who ever watched The Hills (I'm going to guess nobody here has), it also reminds me a lot of a character on the show who used to be called Justin Bobby.

I find myself just saying Ricky Bobby whenever he has the ball, guess it's a habit.

Guess I could be an exception to that....

But I have to say I'm not enamoured with the nickname either.

I think if you love Talladega nights (the ballad of Ricky Bobby) you would love the name, now all he needs is a side kick and we can start yelling out "SHAKE N BAKE"

he is a look a like to the dude who diffuses bombs in Hurt Locker too if youve seen it- no irony there just thought i'd throw it in there

I agree his disposal was pretty bad. He had one inside 50 one free for no goal assists.

If you look at the tape some of those tackles were players on the ground already - I dont know if some should count as tackles. But credit where its due - this is expected of the forward line and good to encourage this type of play. Presumably our forward press was doing the trick and causing there not to be options thus delaying disposals from half back.

Forget the nickname, can we edit the thread title to get his actual name right?

I guess Justin Bobby is a massive [censored], which doesn't really help

Oh, I know where it's from don't worry, it's just sends horrible shivers down my spine when I hear it. As a poster said before, maybe simply "Bobby" would be less grating.

Hmm... I love the movie but still hate the nickname. Don't really know why, it just really annoys me. I mean, you can call any Ricky, Ricky Bobby can't you? Why's he the one picked out for the nickname?

Also quite liked the 'Kam' Mckenzie suggestion. It wasn't irony but was a clever nickname never the less!

Always loved Ricky for his attack on the ball, great to see it's come back!

With the way he has been in and out of the side maybe we should call him the "magic man" now you see me, now you dont! (qoute kal norton jnr) Oh my god I need to watch that show again :)

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
