WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY

You seem to be overly worried about what GWS and GC get out of the deal.

Who cares?

If we can get another top talent for doing very little then we should do it - whoever the other parties are.

Are you kidding? You're the one wanting to do deals with them. I don't want anything to do with them, and I don't want them bidding on Viney to force us to go early. You're right, WGAF?!

The teams above us know that if GC or GWS don't bid for him, that we'll be getting a top 10 pick for 20-something, and they can't do anything about it other than make noise in the media. Any wonder they're pumping him up.

I'm on the wagon now of just using our Pick 3 for him. It's a lot easier to think that way as a/ it's most likely, and b/ it's not worth talking to you about any alternatives.

Ok then?

I will be thinking and posting about getting the best outcome for the MFC.

I think it's time to say we will not win this fight as we are dealing with a club of rats (kevin and gubby)

So we should be holding talks with GC right now to swap pick 3&4 for there pick 1.

MFC get Viney and Whitfield

GC get Toumpas and Stringer.

This has got to be a win win im sure Stringer & Toumpas Together are of more value to GC then just Whitfield.

And MFC get the best Kid and Viney.

The best part of this deal is poor Gubby and Kevin have no say SUCK SH&& boys.

Not possible.

Trades after F/S process.

rpfc's approach is direct action, billy's is indirect action and hope (or possibly no action because it all got too hard) - I know which I prefer.

in rpfc's scenario, yes we have to give something to get Viney at 25, but it just has to be less than the difference between pick 3 and pick 25 which should be pretty easy - that's a big difference.

Ok then?

Me too mate, that is why I'm arguing against the idea of special deals with teams below us, as I strongly believe that it isn't the best outcome for the MFC.

We just have to give less than we gain and in this case it should be straightforward because GWS and GC just have to lose less than they gain and effectively they're losing nothing except hurting us so while we stand to gain a lot pick 3 v pick 25, we really only have to beat nothing to achieve it.

FFS Billy, it's about the best net result for MFC, regardless of what GC or GWS get out of it.

I'd trade Trengove, Watts and Grimes to GWS in exchange for pick 87 if it somehow magically garnered a better net result for MFC.

We're in the unusual position where this can be achieved.

Much like GWS trading their mini-draft picks

Even though it went to their "direct competitor" in GC, they traded pick 1 (O'Meara) for pick 4 (Tyson) and a compo pick.

While Dom Tyson may be a good player, GC are far better off with O'Meara, and O'Meara was potentially worth quite a bit more, but it was the deal that got the best net result for GWS based on what other clubs were offering.

It's not bloody rocket surgery.

You do what's best for your club. Period.

Settle down Hose.

My issue is with doing deals with other Clubs when we don't need to. We will either have to use Pick 3 for Jack or we won't, most likely we will if he plays tomorrow how RP is calling he will play.

GWS HAD to trade those picks either last year or this year. We don't HAVE to do anything of the kind.

Don't take a job involving negotiation - you'll starve.

What date is the F/S bidding?

What date is the F/S bidding?

I think it is the week after Trade week But

Don't know that I care Big Jim.

Whenever it is the MFC will use whatever draft pick necessary to get a player who appears to be in the top five players in 2012

It is BEFORE trade week...

This draft is going to Make or Break this club's chance at flag 13.

We must talk to Jack Viney to have the worst Under 18 championship he can.

Then we must talk to Mr D. about GWS putting in a false bid for Jack viney.

It will make no diffrence to Jack if he does play really bad in the TAC cup but has great upside for the MFC.

If they want to play hardball we surely can make sure jack is rated as a top 15 pick.

T.Viney: Jack play bad football son.

J.Viney: O.K Dad if help's the club.

T.Viney: Goodboy.

Thanks rpfc just as well I am not doing it Viney would be on his way to GCS.

Bit over all this Viney / FSR talk

We know he will be at the Dees in 2013

The 2012 method is the method

Yes, this option is far better than doing surreptitious deals...

Get a grip Big Jim

This is like saying we should intentionally lose games for the rest of the year.

We have been down this route and look what it got us third last on the ladder in the fifth year of a rebuild.

I want the kid to be best on the ground every week he plays.

We will then know we got the best kid in the draft for pick 3,4 or whatever it takes.

You're one of those blokes that clapped and cheered when we lost games in 08/09 aren't you?

How about we let young Jack DOMINATE this year, and then when we take him with Pick 3 or whatever we have - people will be saying how much of a bargain we are getting.

Seriously, we have a really really strong chance of picking up a 200+ game player here and you want to ruin his development just so we can take him later in the draft?

Don't take a job involving negotiation - you'll starve.

Thanks for the advice.

Ok, here's how I think it'll play out (assuming ladder positions remain the same);

Pick 3 - we take Viney due to a team below us bidding for him

Pick 4 - we keep to use in the draft

Pick 12 - we keep to use in the draft, or possible trade to Port in the Boak deal

Pretty straightforward. No trying to hide players, no need to do outside deals. We get 2 of the top 5 kids in the draft, and possibly an established midfielder. You're right Jose - it's not rocket surgery.

Yep spot on rhaz

there is only one way to the top

Winning games, that does not happen by telling players to not give 100%

Or science for that matter.

Dale Garlett at 2nd round pick wouldnt be bad either :)

Agree, and besides young Jack was BOG in his first year of TAC cup, in the Grand Final. Little hard to forget in the football industry.

They wont bid, one team will take Grundy who is a ruck man, why would they risk losing out on a high end ruck-man for a grunt mid-fielder just to benefit other teams? its about benefiting themselves, not trying to block other clubs from doing specific things.

The other team who has pick #1 we can just make a deal with them. if its GWS it can be with the 17yr olds, if its GC we can offer to trade picks 3 and 4 for there pick #1. Either way its win win

Nice to meet you rhaz.

You dont no the first thing about me.

If you must know anyone with a brain is happy when there team is SH&& and gets pick 1 and 2 instead of just pick 1.

It would be diffrent if we had D.Martin and J.Trengrove

But we all know what happen there.

Im all for getting my hands dirty if MFC wins.

Your one of them have a cheap shot keyboard tuff guys? Yes lol

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
