Other clubs see as soft - discuss

This is the very thing that Jim has fought so hard to get rid of ie the them and us division in the Club. We all support the Club in one way or another. Just because someone is louder than someone else doesn't mean we dont all bleed the same way for the Club.

No this is not a division in the club, it's a difference in belief and its about political correctnesss.

If you remember rightly, what Jimma has tried to do is remove the "stuffiness", & to reunite those who were disenfranchised.

Whats he's on about is not having exclusiveness and bringing the club back in touch with all its members. It's the pompous preciousness, that causes the 'Lack of Passion and Spirit'.

This is whats missing from driving the boys to grow an extra arm and leg, to make them WALK TALL....

If you want the club to get ontop of this cultural inadequacy, then those who are part of this 'hoity toity' false politeness that supresses our young players into choir boys instead of Men, need to recognise their part in the pshyche of the failures.

We need players like soldiers, not like paper boys.

Cannot believe how much we are in agreement YUL.

I am composing a letter to the MFC as we speak, strong but thoughtful.

How is that?

carn the Dees.

It is exactly why we need 40,000 to show up in Red & Blue against Adelaide. Show the Club we are not going to be Bull Sh!tted like last night again.

Can you imagine The Filth ever playing that bad 4 years into a rebuild?

Yep, so basically what little respect we did have is down the sh#tter!!

Got it in one!

Hooray I have been preaching this for 30 years.

I have felt like Moses it the desert.

Welcome to my world and more strength to you!

Hey I just realised that i am not a "Rookie" poster anymore. Wahoo. I feel so mature now. Carry on.

No MM would not hear of it.

They have lost by that margin But I cannot remember them with no heart.

God help me for saying this but they are the model I want.

Passion, toughness, playing for your mates and win at all costs.

Congratulations Demonox.

I am happy there is something to smile about today.

It's not so bad modelling your Basic Principles on the Filth...Norm Smith Barracked for them as a kid...saw the 4 peat.

Its hard not to get depressed and [censored] off as we've had 4 years of it now. I keep telling my mates it will turn around but FFS this is giving me the sh#ts.

I hear you BUT.....

It's the MFC way to accept mediocrity and accept the status quo. Get used to it. Since 1964 the only Coach to truly turn us into a feared opposition was John Northy. His tough, no BS approach was infectious and he and "most" of his players took no prisoners. He also opened up the FD to the supporter base for the first time, allowing anyone and everyone access to the players post match in the rooms. The place actually felt like a real footy club for the first (and last) time. Unfortunately he wanted a little more in return for his efforts, including a longer contract, and MFC establishment wouldn't accept.

He also ran into one of the great teams of his era in the Hawks in the 88 GF. I guess that didn't help his case lol.

So, unless you're willing to give up your week nights, weekends and some days and nominate yourself for the board, or volunteer yourself into the FD and somehow work your way into a position of power, or start playing lol, i'd just forget about trying to change the MFC and get on with living your own lives.

A leopard never changes its spots. And this is one TOFFY NOSE SOFT COK of a leopard.

Gutnick & co. tried and failed, and he had millions to back him up. In the end his coup to try and turn Melbourne into a peoples club was cut off by the establishment.

What hope you think any of you have??

Don't waste your time guys.

Life is too short to waste trying to change this dud of a club. And no, i'm certainly not saying you the supporters or any of the players are duds, just the established board and culture.

Hec, in 10-15 years time there'll be virtually no one left alive who'll have even seen or played in our last flag!

Just enjoy your occasional "dead cat bounce" wins that we have once in a while and be happy.

Oh, and the unfurling of our Grand Old Flag at home games!! Haha....omg. No other club would even dare pull this BS.

Jimmy are you watching this crap (on and off the field!!)??

This is presently NOT a genuine football club. For it to become one, it needs significant changes, from the top down.

Not Jimmy. But the way the board and club runs and is willing to accept 2nd best on the field.

It lacks a hard nose culture generally and it shows.

So until, or unless this changes....get used to more of the same BS on the field.

Other clubs see as soft - discuss

What is there to discuss? I think that's right on the mark.

I'm afraid this week's game's worth at least five goals to Adelaide, so that makes ten including the first quarter - going by averages.

Settle Down Long Suffering...What happened last night is not all bad, as long as the Club acts in the right manner...Who cares what other people say about our club, as long as our supporters stick fat & don't let all this passion just fade away...

Turn the Radio off at least once an hour..

Passion just faded to black

Gee some people just seem to reflect the softness of the club

It's almost like we're a young developing team whose senior players aren't standing up.

It's interesting to note who the people are who care so much about what other supporters think of the MFC.

This is a typical wallpaper-over-the-cracks statement.

There is more to this than just our senior players aren't standing up.

We can field a youthful, inexperienced, physically underdeveloped side. But they need to have a go, and at the moment the youth are not giving 100% for 100% of the game. Sure, you could argue that the leaders need to do this in order to make the kids follow suit or something like that, but the way I see it, we do not have 22 players on the field who are giving their all, and that is more than just a leadership issue. It's why Bailey is rightly copping flak, and why, if we don't turn it around, he's dead.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
