Rohan Bail

Seriously guys- how good has Rohan Bail been this year?? He is fast becoming one of the best taggers in the comp of which there arent too many. Done a couple of great jobs and for a young bloke to have had such a big impact on games with his defensive work and pressure i think is fantastic. He sets a very good example! Do you agree??

He is hard at it. He is quick and solid. He is a good tackler and he can be damaging himself... the perfect prototype for a tagger and hopefully he continues to develop in the manner we have all seen.

There is a lot to like about this kid...

yes.. but he is more than just a tagger.

Yeah i agree but he is filling an area for us nicely at the moment...

He is becoming an important part of the side, no doubt.

Just goes to show that some players come from nowhere. He was a mature age draftee, and to be honest, barely looked up to VFL standard in 2009. I had him pencilled in as a certain delistee, then all of a sudden he got a guernsey round 2 2010 against the Pies and hasn't looked back!!!

Could possibly put Bartram out of a job! Bail was fantastic today, ran with one of the best around (Black) for a lot of the day and did a lot of important rebounding which I think influenced the rest of the backline as they seemed to have more confidence today.

I can't wait for Jordie to come back so Bail can be released into his running role. He is very quick, attacks the ball hard and is still running after 100 minutes of footy. Because the defensive side of his game is as strong as his attack, his opponent will never get too much free ball. And as mentioned above he is much more than a tagger. His run and carry is too good to be confined as a stopper only.

He's been a beauty, with mcKenzie down,,, but what when McKenzie is ready. He'll play a couple @ Casey, then, will come in. So, who goes. Bail or Jones? Or another?

We'll wait and see. It definitely won't be Bail, though.

Bail has the opportunity to become a Brad Sewell type player in our team. The early signs are good!

What? He is nothing like Brad Sewell? He does not even play the same role as Brad Sewell?

Has a crack, durable and runs all day.

We could certainly have a worse tagger. I don't think Bail will ever be a champion, but I quite like him.

I think he's a great role-player for the side, his athletic ability allow him to play a number of roles and DB has highlithed this in the past. Liked the look of him last year as a defensive forward, able to run with his man and get dangerous in front of goals. This year he's moved into the midfield group and i think it's smart coaching to use him as a tagger given his elite running ability. Speed, agility and most importantly, a huge tank, mean he can fill that role perfectly, and although some are fans of his footskills, i think his kicking and decision making can be a bit ordinary, or perhaps just inconsistent, at times. Playing as a defensive midfielder limits the negative effect this might have on us, and plays to Bail's strengths.

Won't put Barty out unless he makes a permenent move into the backline, which i see unlikely. Barty is a fixture back there, and as was mentioned in a thread last week, it's going to take a very good defender to knock him off that spot. Might be Bail, but i see his running ability to be of more use in the middle.

I agree.

All true, he's been unreal so far. Don't think I'd venture to label him a tagger as his influence on the three games so far has extended well beyond the traditional tagging role. You could usually expect a tagger to not have much of an impact due to placing all their attention on making sure another player has no impact. Whilst fulfilling that tagging role he has still managed to work himself in to the games really well with some key possessions. I notice glimpses of it in him last year, and am glad that he has worked hard over the preseason and capitalised on his efforts last year. Let's all hope he keeps it up.

While I think he's a good tagger, he also reminds me of James McDonald - runs all day, and while not an elite kick can kick with either foot, can tag but could also be a running midfielder. Perhaps not as much in and under as Junior, but a lot to like. Perhaps we should call him "Junior Jr".

When McKenzie comes back I suspect Bail will become the "second" tagger - that is help McKenzie when he needs a rest and otherwise be given more opportunity to run free. I like him a lot. Amazing what is still there in the draft at, what, pick 64 or thereabouts.
