If Newton keeps this up, then it's going to be hard for Fev to force his way into the side.

God I hope Fev doesn't play for Casey.

We've got Newton and Bate who'll play regularly for VFL this season.

Then we've got Cook, Howe and Fitzpatrick who we're trying to develop.

Every game Fev play means one less game in a key position for these players

I was pleasantly surprised to read Casey had won last night, since the match preview on SEN on Thursday night virtually dismissed the Scorps' chances out of hand. There was a blithe agreement among the radio pundits that Gee Long was a lock.

Fevola is a proven goalkicker at AFL level and Brad Gotch is committed to having him in his team if he can reach the required level of fitness.

In light of this, why not take advantage of what Fevola can bring to Casey and to his Melbourne listed team mates (and I'm being serious here)? To get where he was at Fevola had to have some special talent and skills and if our blokes can learn the good parts of his game then it can only benefit the cause.

People are underestimating our players if they think Fevola will lead them astray and turn them into monsters. However, if he can turn them into hardened footballers who can play with a bit of mongrel, then it's not all bad.

Yeah, one or two cancer cells aren't bad are they? They won't spread through the whole body??

You are kidding yourself Pink Freud if you think Pergola will be anything but disruptive and divisive influence. You have clearly never been involved in a successful team at any level. If you had you would realise how dangerous these people are.

Let me spell it out for you: C-U-L-T-U-R-E.

I was also at the game and thought the following:

Gysberts should be called up for the dees ASAP and after watching Jetta and Maric tonight, he should easily replace them.

Gawn was bloody good - very impressed.

Bate tried hard but had nil impact.

Warnock I thought was pretty rubbish.

Blease looked like his confidence improved throughout the game which is great...more game time will only benefit him....wish he kicked that goal in the 2nd quarter when he ran and bounced it through the guts but just sprayed it from 50 out!! would have been a ripper.

Lawrence impressive also

I know who I'd prefer between a fit Fvola and Newton.

Thanks for the spelling lesson.

I suppose you would have noticed Hawthorn's unsociable culture last evening while our culture of being goody, goody two shoes would have been to your satisfaction.

Surely, there's nothing wrong with a little bit of mongrel inside a footballer's makeup?

Agree. And why should we also accept Mediocre.

Fevola would give us just that JCB...Mediocraty.

Apart from his other flaws his best football is behind him...Get games into Jeremy Howe.

VFL player assessmentsare up

Some nice news there. Gys looks the Bis. Newton could of kicked a big bag. Evans sounds pretty solid and the Fitz in the magoos kicked 1.4 in a half with 12 touches. Love to see him in the first showing some leg speed.

But my favorite report was Wonna. Looks like he is going allright. Might give use a little spark and some more forward pressure.

Gysberts fit and playing is exactly what our mids need.

If we can get our first 4 picks from the 2009 draft playing together regularly, and maturing together, we'll go a long way to winning a premiership.

(Scully, Trengove, Gysberts & Tappy)

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
