Hey guys, I'd be interested in joining.

Are we just going to use standard DT scoring? 3 pts for kick, mark, 4 pts per tackle etc?

edit: My bad. I joined the 2nd league and have read about the scoring now.

Saturdays until about after 4pm are not good for me, hopefully this can be changed, it seems like we'll need to push back the draft some time to let other teams join anyway.

I am in the second league.

Would prefer a draft date closer to the start of the season if possible.

This would also allow more time for other teams to join.

Edit: For those who still want to join, here are the details of the second league again:

League name: Demonland Mk 2

League ID: 351891

Password: demons

OK pick 7 for me up first.... whos going to be left at 7??? A Swallow is who they've got ranked at 7hmmm... could be a couple of dee's going early though... might end up with swan or sandi then HMMM...

where's Burgo's phantom draft when you need some inside information

Jackattack going down in Rd1. Betfair has RD1 odds Jackattack short at $1.40 Jako13 $3.10..... i'm backing myself to pay for the end of season trip early :)

You'll learn some valuable lessons jako. Plus a good opportunity to get the game against me out of the way early.

Nice, Demonland Mk 2 is up to 10 teams!

I've also moved the draft date back to the 20th of March, but that can be changed too. It's the last weekend before the start of the season.

I'd make your time limit pretty short if you're going to go that late.

Also If you end up with an odd number you can't start your draft, which caught me out last year.

Yeah I will, but first things first let's give it a week or so and see if we can't fill it up. Then I'll put it to the rest of the league to see what makes people happy. Might bring it forward by a week too.

First time poster and now rookie ultimate football competitor in demonland mk2. I was wondering if we could move the draft to sunday arvo instead of the morning

in demonland mkll it says the draft is on april 10 the season will already be started.

Lol fail on my behalf.

Ok I fixed it now I think. At the moment it's Sunday 20th March at 10:00am, with 1 hour for each pick. But once we've finalised the size of the league we can all decide on draft deets.

I find that hard to believe.

PS I refunded that 20 bucks you sent me.

My No1 pick aint going that cheap :)

Not bad... There's some early smacktalk form here. Well noticed about the birthday by the way. I'd done well trying to avoid it today.

Reminder to everyone in the demonland1 league to be available for the draft if you can be from 5:30-10:00pm tomorrow (Sunday). I know some can't make it, so there will be some picks that will take the full 30 minutes to be selected.

If you can't make it I strongly suggest you do a pre-draft ranking of the playing list. Try not to stray too far from the projected rankings of the players.

If you are around be sure to check back in for the draft as much as you can so it keeps moving along. I have never run a slow draft before so I this is new to me as well, hopefully it runs well.

JA just wondering if would worthwhile shortening 30 minutes to say 10-15, most people will be online for atleast this first day, so if takes the full quota of time for those not online - we won't be twiddling our thumbs waiting. I for one won't be able to do most of the midweek evenings as i get home from work at about 7.30-8mideweek. not complaining about that i'll do some rankings and get what is dished out by the auto selections. i'm just thinking the wait time might be tedious if it goes the full time quota for those not online

Probably a good idea. I also will be missing some on the other days. I'll make it 15 minutes and if I can change it back to 30 for subsequent days i might try that.

I'm assuming a pre draft pick only kicks in when the time limit for a pick expires?

In other words a manual pick cancels out a auto pick?

(the help files could be improved, more indepth explainations)

Like everything, once you;ve done it once, you know the drill.

Hi- I am currently overseas, hopefully I will be available for draft this Sunday night. You are starting 5pm or 5.30 pm..I have the 9th pick, therefore as I understand it I will not have to be available till around say 8pm(Melbourne time for my first pick- Is that correct? Please advise as the rules seem to change reguarly. We need to make them firm so we all know.

thank you

Sunday's draft starts at 5:30. Each pick will have a maximum of 15 minutes to pick, however you may make that pick in 1 minute, then the next person has 15 minutes from then.

So in your case if the 8 picks before yours take only 1 minute to select then your 15 minutes starts at 5:38. In reality there will be a few of those 8 who won't be available for the draft. So my guess is that your pick will be around 6:00. Again I have never run a slow draft before so i'm in the dark a bit myself, but I'm fairly confident the settings I have put in place are the best possible given the situation.

Apologies to those who have been negatively affected by any changes that I have made, and those who can't make parts of the draft, I'm doing my best to get everyone involved, but balancing that is the need to keep it moving quickly as well. Remember that the draft is not the end game here, it is important but you'll find that if you pre-rank your players it is normal that your selection will be the pre-ranked one anyway. The exception here is you will probably want to keep an eye on balancing your team well across the positions and the categories.

I know there has been some confusion about the start time, it is 5:30 for only Sunday, days following it will start at 5:00. A further explanation of this is in an earlier post.

JA- And your best is outstanding and no doubt appreciated by all, but especially me- Sincere thanks..Hope to be online tomorrow.Regards

Pumped for the draft, shattered I ended up with pick 13. Turns out I'm no good at rigging it.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
