2010 draftees who support the MFC

I always find it interesting to see which clubs the draftees support prior to being picked up.

Unfortunately too few seem to support the Dees.

I understand that it all changes once players get to a club (eg, Chris Judd), but it's nonetheless nice to see the likes of Moloney and Grimes wearing the red and the blue.

Looking at Kevin Sheehan's likely top 30 draftees on AFL's website, it seems the two following players support the Dees:

Dion Prestia: http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/102362/default.aspx

Andrew Gaff: http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/102024/default.aspx

Does anyone know whether these guys are a possibility for us? And, if so, what's their form like?

We will not get Gaff and Prestia is not what we need, Although it's every youngsters dream is to play for the club they supported I think by the time they make the grade I don't think it matters who they play for as long as its in the AFL.

Don't forget buddy Franklin was a dees man! But yeah it makes not one bit of difference once they get drafted

I know Andrew Gaff's parents, and his Mum is from a pathologically infatuated Demons family. His Dad barracks for Richmond, but his Mum is the more passionate supporter.

They'd love him to stay in Melb and play for us or Toigs, but are becoming used to the idea that he'll probably go to WCE.

I'd be delighted if somehow he dropped through to no. 12, but there's no chance.

Sam Crocker did, and family still does

and some guy named Judd I believe

Would love to see Prestia selected with the second round pick. I know it's highly unlikely he'll make it that far, but there's always a chance.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
