Why do you think Cheney was "shafted" ? Can you support this ?

Or am I talking to a brick wall !

I believe it was Kyle that asked to be traded due to lack of opportunaties (playing most of the year at Casey).

James has been signed for another 2 years so I guess we will know one way or another after that. Looked at the start of the season he was given the role as designated kicker from behinds, but didn't really look confident in that role.

Cheney wasn't shafted. He was unlucky to not get games, but that isn't being shafted. We had too many defenders playing decent footy. No-one really deserved to be dropped for Cheney to come in. He got a couple of games after consistent solid performances at Casey. I for one thought he should have been in the senior side at times during the year based on his consistent Casey performances. But I guess in hindsight we're trying to build a solid and set defensive line. He wasn't in the best 6 defenders at the club. We did him a favour trading him when we could have tried to hold on to him as insurance. Win - win.

James looked a bit like a rabbit caught in headlights in his couple of senior games. I can excuse him that, but he certainly needs to have more strings to his bow than elite kicking skills .......... and not having seen him at Casey, I'm not sure what they are.

Straussie is a great kick as we all know, but I do remember how well he moved in a practice game against North last year. He really took my eye, then he was selected for round one. The club obviously sees something. I trust it is just confidence of doing it with the big boys and it should come with time.

    Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill.     Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     DRUBBING by Meggs

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
