You never know though with Arizona... Going by my VERY scientific ladder predictor the wild card spots in the NFC will be the toughest, with Dallas, Seattle and Detroit fighting it out. Actually in the standings right now, to think that Seattle, Green Bay and Dallas are the big three possibilities.... they're actually the teams I'm more frightened of than ANY in the NFC. Weird eh. It's a high pressure environment. Unlike the AFC/VFL.

The Browns making it. Would be fantastic. For the League. Never see the much hater, formerly unstoppable team climb the ladder in the AFL though do we?

Foles' time? In my mind I think yes. And Sanchize might not be at Eagles either next year. The only thing left for Foles is to maybe play some time in playoffs. He really just isn't that good. Sooner or later he's gotta go. However my heart tells me they might have a terrible 2015/16 with him on the list. Some of Kelly's picks haven't worked out, and the list is getting super ancient. Most of the starting OL is 30+. Corners will be gone. Only got one Linebacker of note. When he does screw up, they'll get an early pick and parlay that into Kelly's 10 year QB. Be it a trade for Newton/Marriotta or whatever.

Did they flex it to there? I was hoping for the 12:30 game like today. Was awesome. Watched the game at my mate's cafe on the big TV, he's a cowboys fan. Wearing my Vick jersey. Special day.

Yeah it's freaking massive. Game of the week. Or would be if it wasn't for Brady v Luck. Actually all late games are enormous.

Parity in the NFL is much more of a reality than in the AFL. There are so many teams realistically vying for playoff spots this year. Two of Arizona, Seattle, SF, Detroit, Green Bay, Dallas and Philadelphia are going to miss the playoffs this year. In the AFC, there's Cincy, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Miami, Buffalo, KC and San Diego - battling for only 3 playoff spots.

Green Bay right now has to be in one of the strongest positions to win the NFC, but right now hasn't got a playoff spot. Pittsburgh can absolutely thrash Indianapolis but lose to Tampa and the Jets. I find it a lot easier to believe in the underdog winning in the NFL than in the AFL.

So many amazing games this week. NE v Indianapolis is my favourite, but Arizona v Dallas, Seattle v KC and Green Bay v Philadelphia are huge too.

It's awesome. And the best slew of games haven't even started yet. A couple of weeks ago Dallas vs Eagles was looking like the big time NFC East finisher. But if Eagles can somehow do the impossible and beat Rodgers at Lambeau, then that would be considered their best win of the regular season and would place them as basically a playoff team, looking at their schedule.

I'm concerned about our defense against your fast paced offense ... hell, we have enough issues against teams who methodically move the ball down the field. This game could easily end up being a shoot-out ... both teams know how to rack up the points. I'll take any sort of win but I'm not at all confident.

So much riding on this one game ... in 2 weeks time your blokes are at Dallas and the Packers are at home against the Pats.

From Bill Simmons' latest column ... keeping in mind that he rarely gives the Packers a lot of credit.

Eagles (+6.5) over PACKERS

CARDINALS (-1) over Lions

That’s right, I am backing Drew Stanton AND Mark Sanchez this week. LET’S DO THIS! In the words of 2016 President-Elect Bruce Arians: “We can win the Super Bowl with Drew Stanton. There is no doubt in my mind.” To be fair, there is some doubt in my mind. Lots, actually. But I like going against the Packers after an easy Sunday-night blowout win,

Yeah. I think the fact Rodgers hasn't thrown a pick at Lambeau since 2012 is a big factor. Eagles rely on their returned TDs and special teams. Also Luck killed us with his hard counts, so that's a big one too. But yes, basically it's gonna be an awesome game. Simple as that. Noone in their right mind would bet on it, you just can't with two quality sides.

This is utterly infuriating. We should be absolutely slapping these fools. Two fumbles lost and a bogus penalty leading to a Seattle TD and we're down. Unbelievable. Seattle is the second easiest opponent we have left so if we lose this it's season over.

The Rams would not only be leading the NFC South (or tied?) but they'd be the best team in it by a fair stretch. Are Tampa out of it yet (almost Seriously)

It's nice to see the Eagles copping what the Bears did last week. I had doubts on GB, because I saw them like the Broncos last year, great QB, but not strong enough of D or on the offensive line. But they are changing my opinion. As well as Manning played last year, with his ability to extend plays and scramble I'd say Rodgers is a level above. He doesn't need an offensive line right now (even if they are playing well) and he's giving the green bay D such a lead to play with as well.

The Bengals and Browns completely swap form (I had initially tipped Houston but swapped to Detroit).

I know there are still blow out wins, really bad teams (next week Oakland) and some boring games, but wow this any given Sunday thing is fun with unpredictable results.

The AFL should really try one of these (somewhat) even and unpredictable comps one day.

Snuck away from disneyland for a half hour n went to the espnzone... 120 tvs showing all different games. Watched the last 5 minutes of the falcons game, huge miss from the panthers for the 46 yard field goal, we got out of jail been 16-3 up. Can not believe we are on top of the NFC south thought our season was completely shot!

Bloody great game by our D today, smothered Denver all game, couple of massive hits too!

Keeping Denver to one TD and shutting them out for the first quarter and then the second half was amazing.

Our offence looked much better with Hill, I thought Davis was great early in the season and pre season but a older wiser head was the right call today.

Bloody stoked!

6 road winners with another one coming up tomorrow with the Steelers you'd reckon ... of course, none of us could put 3 of 'em together. Every time I think of tipping against the more obvious road teams I baulk - ah well, we keep coming back for more much like the addiction we have for the Demons :)

Points tally in the comp ...

3 - JV7, Go the Biff, Georgiou R. R. Martin, Dappa Dan

2 - Macca

1 - cowboy_from_hell, pantaloons, Gorgoroth

0 - others

Week 12 games

Re the games ...

KC are now level with Denver on wins when they could have fallen 2 games behind

The Pats now look Super Bowl bound and I'm not sure any team in the AFC can stop them.

Packers winning and the Lions losing changes things dramatically in the NFC North.

Arizona still have a few tough games coming up but they currently hold the 1 seed in the NFC by 2 wins.

Cinci, San Francisco & the Chargers all had very important wins.

Seattle are looking shaky and it might be out of them or the 49ers for a wild-card berth.

Atlanta now head the NFC South - whooda thunk-it. What's goin' on with the Saints?

The AFC North is impossible to pick but I'm thinking the Ravens might get hot - Ravens schedule

Vikes lose and deserved to lose. I can't pick a winner but I was on the Rodgers mvp bandwagon very early. He should take next week off to prepare for the pats. Well the Rams keep getting upset wins which is great to see. Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on in Washington? RG3 is skating on very thin ice at the moment. A few choice words in a press conference don't help either.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
