Yeah thanks Macca. Love the typing comp. Makes watching redzone all that bit more interesting.

And you're in line for a 3peat with the post-season comp   If we get enough starters we may as well have a go at it ... traditionally we've posted up likely scorelines as well.

The playoffs kinda starts with SNF in week 17 ... it could well be a high-scoring shootout.  If your blokes win (and you should win) you're then guaranteed the 2 seed - nice position to be in.

Yeah going to be some good games this week with playoff implications.. So unless the Redskins win then GB & Detriot both make it regardless of who wins their battle ? So they'll be playing for the North title & seeding...

As for the Falcons you'd think with a #2 seed on the line, final regular season game in the Dome they'd take care of buisness against the Saints but these are the situations they usually drop a game they should win. I'm never confident taking on Brees but if we can get the W, take a bye week & reload for the divisonal week... I'll be excited (not to mention I wont have to watch a wildcard playoff game in my mrs family tiny cabin on holidays with all her family crowded around & me losing my s#it)

I'm up bush with no reception walking around and found a spot.

GB - hoping to mozz them!

AFC
Kubiak retiring due to health reasons. I expect Denver to win for him. KC get the 2 seed. Even if Oakland win I still think the AFC is the Pats, from the Chiefs, with the Steelers a possibility to get hot at the right time but looking less likely each week to actually do it. 3 out of 6 QB's in the AFC play offs will be back ups. That's crazy.

NFC
I'm pretty sure GB will win and take the division. No idea about Washington and Atlanta taking care of business though. Can't wait for all the NFC play off games though, there's going to be good ones with some really strange mixes of offensive and defensive strengths. Still have no idea who will win the conference.

Giants winning means that the Lions & Packers are now both in the playoffs ... which means that the loser of the upcoming game would need to go to Seattle in week 1 of the playoffs.   On the flip side, the winner gets to face the Giants at their home field.

I'm not sure what the more difficult assignment might be - either match-up won't be easy for either of the 2 sides.  Still, you always want to win the division and get a home final.

Rodgers made the big call and he backs it up ... big turnaround and I didn't think we could do it.  The man is just an absolute gun under pressure.

The Giants will be tough opposition and we all know what Eli is like when he gets into the playoffs.

And we have a winner in the tipping comp - Gorgoroth wins by 4 points to make it back-to-back triumphs.  Well done mate!

And well done to all the participants ... thanks for playing.  See you all back here for the post-season tipping comp

The Saturday wildcard match ups don't look too interesting but the Sunday one's seem better.

Giants v GB certainly looks the best of the games.

I don't expect Eli magic but the Giants defense is legit and getting the ball to Beckham and hope he takes a couple to the house isn't the worst offense in the playoffs!

I don't know what happened to make Rodgers lose all faith in his receivers mid year but he's back and these new largely unknown play makers in GB are making plays. You're going to need a great offense (Atlanta, Dallas) or a huge defensive effort (NYG, maybe Seattle) to stop them now.

Not sure he ever lost all faith but I'm of the belief that the receivers weren't working anywhere near hard enough to get reasonable separation.

Fairly basic WR play '101' but these things can happen if receivers start relying on silver-service and get lazy.

They were almost certainly read the riot act (Nelson included) by the coaches and Rodgers himself.  Montgomery has made a big difference too.  He's more dynamic than Lacy.

Agreed ... Stafford & Detroit's record away from home against better than .500 teams is abysmal (is it 0 & 18?)

Seattle with that home field advantage should win comfortably.

New England will be facing Houston, Oakland or Miami in the 2nd week so that's effectively another bye

The Packers/Giants game is the biggie ... Eli lifts a gear or 2 on the road in the playoffs but their defence is their main attribute now.

Wrapt the falcons divisonal game is on the Saturday (sunday our time)... in the NFC I'm most worried about the Packers but we'd only met them at home in the NFCCG if that eventuated. Looking forward to sitting back and watching the wild card week play out!

Just so everyone knows, the post-season tipping comp involves picking the winners of any of the games only (1 point per winner except in the case of the Super Bowl where 3 points are on the line)

Traditionally we've posted up scorelines but the scorelines have never counted.

My mistake... Falcons could met Green Bay in the divisonal week if Seattle loses.

The MFC finally gets its house in order on/off field so my NFL team, the 49ers, falls apart.

Kelly wanted to draft Prescott but Baalke said no. Now both are fired. $70-odd million owing to Kelly and Tomsula and we are at square one for the third straight year. Unbelievable, really.

As to playoffs, I'm getting behind anyone whose name is not Seattle, Green Bay, New England or Pittsburgh.

Also, sorry for my continued absence from the NFL tipping competition - I'm never on Demonland regularly enough over the NFL season to participate properly.

Sun 8.30am .....(HOU -3) ..... Oakland 13 @ Houston 19

Sun 12.30pm .. (SEA -7)....... Detroit 17 @ Seattle 24

Mon 5.05am .... (PIT -9.5)..... Miami 10 @ Pittsburgh 21

Mon 8.40am .... (GB -4) ....... NY Giants 16 @ Green Bay 24

Oakland 10 @ Houston 20

Detriot 20 @ Seattle 24

Miami 13 @ Pittsburgh 27

New York 17 & Green Bay 28

Oakland 13 @ Houston 26

Detroit 23 @ Seattle 30

Miami 10 @ Pittsburgh 35

NY Giants 31 @ Green Bay 27

no idea why I'm going NY, but I just have a feeling.

A few speculative points ...

  • The Giants worry me but Eli will need his defense to be supreme.  Against that, Rodgers is in stellar form.  It's the game of the weekend as long as New York can bring their A game and the Packers are totally switched on.  Packers just.
  • Atlanta are my pick to go through to the SB unless the Giants or Packers can stop them.  I'm not sure on Dallas ... Prescott would be the first 'relied-upon-rookie-QB' to win through but if he does, kudos.  If Seattle get past Detroit (as expected), I don't believe the Seahawks are good enough to win at the Falcons.
  • New England should breeze through to the AFC Championship game but that may be to their detriment.  Not playing an in-your-face tough game for a month is not ideal.  KC or the Steelers may provide an upset in week 3 - especially Pittsburgh.  But winning @ Foxborough ain't easy - anytime.
  • So it's an Atlanta/New England SB for mine ... failing that it's the Pats vs the Packers (or Giants) for the big dance.

- Packers are the team I do not want to run into. I feel their the only side who can go toe to toe with our offense.

- Giants are the next, if Eli gets going...  Their defense is probably the best left in the NFC

- Doubt Seattle will be able to overcome the injuries on defense to make a SB run however they SHOULD account for Detriot at home this week.

- Think the Cowboys could be in trouble. Their best shot is if Detriot upset Seattle. Honestly can't see their defense holding Rodgers & Giants have their measure this season.

- Agree with you in the AFC Macca, you'd say Patriots have a free ride to the AFCCG but it might be too easy.

Predicting our boys to square off in the NFCCG Macca

Edited by JV7

Oakland had the ability to beat New England until Carr broke his leg. Houston's probably the worst team to make the playoffs since, what, the 2010 Seahawks who finished below .500? But I think Houston will win that game.

Packers' current form means they should take care of the Giants, Seattle will destroy Detroit IMO, and I don't see Miami getting anywhere near Pittsburgh either.

The Chiefs-Steelers game should be a ripper, as will the Patriots-Chiefs/Steelers game. I also think the Falcons-Seahawks game will be close, and I can easily see the Seahawks knocking them off and facing Dallas or Green Bay in the NFCCG.

  • GAMEDAY: Fremantle

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
