Andrew Walker is a Must!

Featured Replies

Sorry to bring up another Warnock forum, but I can't stop thinking about the possibility of trading Warnock and possibly a late pick to Carlton for Andrew Walker. Although Walker has been injury prone the last couple years, I think he would be a valuable inclusion to the dees lineup. It would allow for Grimes to play more of a midfield role while Walker holds down an attacking half back flanker position.

I completely understand and agree with the fact that Warnock adds depth to our backline, but if for whatever reason one of Frawley, Rivers or Garland were to go down with an injury, Walker could easily hold down the 3rd biggest forward.

Thoughts?

Noooooooo

I haven't watched him closely, but the thought has always been that his kicking's not up to scratch. Is that true?

And when you require three shoulder reconstructions it points less to bad luck than it does to bad genes.

Sorry to rain on the parade...

"He also said defender Matthew Warnock was a required player and not available for trade."

No thanks. His lack of consistency and errant decision making are worries for me.

That's just posturing.

He's saying "if you want him, you'll have to really pay to get him."

which is fair enough

I've only heard TH say that he is a required player in a different tone. Haven't heard the words "isn't/not available for trade"...maybe the journo had - but it's definitely not a quote by my reckoning.

Definitely means that we are not looking to offload him but if a club wants to pay over the top, we are interested...

Think he would be a very hand pick up! If fit would certainly fit into our best 22!

Wouldnt mind him of the halfback flank., good speed and dash. If he can get his body right and consistancy would be a great pickup imo.

I'd be interested if we could get him cheap. Having him off a half back frees up Grimes

Ha big if.

He's a paper cut away from spontaneous combustion.

Noooo.

Noooo.

So you dont believe his a good player? or just think his too injury prone?

pros

- quick

- versatile

- can take a mark

cons

- injury prone: has had repeated shoulder problems

- kicking suspect

- tackling suspect: possibly due to lack of confidence in shoulders

all in all that'd be a no from me...

You claim that it will free up Grimes, but why do that. It is well known that we attack from the half back line. Grimes is absolute quality and along with Chip sets up the greater percentage of our attacks. Why take him out when he is so damaging? He just needs to clear up some of his turnovers (which because he is in the backline, can be really costly), but he has only played 26 games. There is a tonne of development and improvement left in him :o , it's scary what he could become. Keep him where he will be most dangerous.

I heard Walker was diagnosed with a very serious condition than restricts him from reaching his full potential. It was revealed that Walker is in fact made from glass..........

Has all the skills in the world, but cannot and will not ever play 22 games again.

Hardly a "must" player. Carlton will also charge more than he is worth.

Sugar glass.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
