Not great for Demonland but itโ€™s the way it should be.ย

Agree on both points. Very healthy. Unless of course you are trying to prosecute a club in crisis narrative.ย

I'm not a connection but can see his posts when others like them, seeing him on linkedin talking leadership, culture and the like makes me vomit.

Perhaps even less so. Lewis was 29, Smith is about to turn 31

Smith can still jog though, doesn't go to ground, and doesn't give away undisciplined 50s.

Clarko knows there is still 18 months of bonefide value with Smith.ย  In relation to Lewis, it was Trash and Treasure at the local Sunday Market.

So you think Smith will still be just as quick and far nearing 33 years of age? Good for you.

Lewis was far from a trash and treasure pick up IMO.ย

I'd be fine for us to have Smith, but only costing very little and for 1 year with tough incentives for 2. I think he'sย 12 mths off doneย

Read what I posted.ย  I didn't say he wouldย be as quick.

Big deal. Off you go to your Richmond forum, Tugger.ย

This was looked at today. We (rightly) baulked at 3 years for a 31 yo.ย

Racehorses who cant win their own footy are a liability when the pace goes.

Turning 31 in a few weeks.

I would pass. We can do better.

Well I would have hoped we worked him into the deal for Frost! We ended up with jackshyte for Frosty in the end when we should have worked Isaac into the deal. A 2 year deal gets us an experienced player who still has ability.

It is interesting how easily we could have moneyballed this draft to fill some obvious gaps for minimal cost while we still played the main game for first round draft picks. Think Isaacย Smith for the wing,ย Jenkins/Bruce/Ellis, up forward, Dougle Howard down back? Oh well letโ€™s go to the draft for a small forward and what else?ย

ย

Isaac is not going anywhere. Looks like he only wanted to leave the Hawks by cashing in with a 3 year contract on big bucks. The Hawks were not interested or any other club. So he will stay with the Hawks.ย

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert. ย This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coachโ€™s showdownย pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% winย rate)ย againstย hisย protรฉgรฉ Daisy Pearce (16ย games,ย 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisyโ€™s record doesnโ€™t yet reflect her impact โ€” but sheโ€™s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Daisโ€™ย isย mythic. ย Likeย Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill herย (sporting metaphor) orย be her. ย Toothersย Daisy Pearceย isย a role model,ย someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chancesโ€”plenty of themโ€”but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Portโ€™s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmyโ€™s inclusive bannerโ€”"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwoodโ€™s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.ย

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
