Not great for Demonland but it’s the way it should be.

Agree on both points. Very healthy. Unless of course you are trying to prosecute a club in crisis narrative.

Perhaps even less so. Lewis was 29, Smith is about to turn 31

Smith can still jog though, doesn't go to ground, and doesn't give away undisciplined 50s.

Clarko knows there is still 18 months of bonefide value with Smith.  In relation to Lewis, it was Trash and Treasure at the local Sunday Market.

So you think Smith will still be just as quick and far nearing 33 years of age? Good for you.

Lewis was far from a trash and treasure pick up IMO.

I'd be fine for us to have Smith, but only costing very little and for 1 year with tough incentives for 2. I think he's 12 mths off done

Read what I posted.  I didn't say he would be as quick.

Big deal. Off you go to your Richmond forum, Tugger.

This was looked at today. We (rightly) baulked at 3 years for a 31 yo.

Racehorses who cant win their own footy are a liability when the pace goes.

Turning 31 in a few weeks.

I would pass. We can do better.

Well I would have hoped we worked him into the deal for Frost! We ended up with jackshyte for Frosty in the end when we should have worked Isaac into the deal. A 2 year deal gets us an experienced player who still has ability.

It is interesting how easily we could have moneyballed this draft to fill some obvious gaps for minimal cost while we still played the main game for first round draft picks. Think Isaac Smith for the wing, Jenkins/Bruce/Ellis, up forward, Dougle Howard down back? Oh well let’s go to the draft for a small forward and what else?

Isaac is not going anywhere. Looks like he only wanted to leave the Hawks by cashing in with a 3 year contract on big bucks. The Hawks were not interested or any other club. So he will stay with the Hawks.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
