Far out, discussing things with you is like ramming your head into a brick wall.

And you're wrong.

There.

What is ridiculous about it is saying that an 80% white jumper is going to be a bad design no matter what it looks like. That's rubbish, and like I said, go and have a look at some of the designs some of the members here have made and put into the clash jumper thread.

OK, pal,

show me where I said anything about a bad design. I just said with a good design it will still be 80% white

I already said I had seen the clash jumper thread (and if you look at that thread you will see I have commented)

I already said I was "in favour of getting the best possible design out there"

I said "That will make me happier but not happy"

I'm not bagging the designs on that thread, some are quite good

Its simple really - I don't like a predominately white jumper - thats my POV - NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH DESIGN

Exactly

This was in reference to "that is being dismissive of the past" from rpfc replying to belzebub59

Utter poppycock, or as belzebub59 put it "utter rubbish" and "Tripe !!"

Now can we stop mis-interpreting posters comments and passions.

"You're a grand old flag,

You're a high flying flag

And forever in peace may you wave.

You're the emblem of

The land I love.

The home of the free and the brave.

Ev'ry heart beats true

'neath the Red, White and Blue,

Where there's never a boast or brag.

But should auld acquaintance be forgot,

Keep your eye on the grand old flag."

Now that is funny.

Yanks, heh. They can write a song.

I just wish we could have found a song from a country with just red and blue in their flag.

I feel dirty now...

Couldn't help myself, sorry.

Yes i was waiting for you to sing the American song of independance....how thoughtful

But the MFC Theme song has always been the Red & Blue.

So what you wrote, though a good try & quite humorous

does not change my opinion one iota....! B)

And I always thought they stole OUR song - bugger

Sorry, according to wikipedia no countries with just red/blue

Vlad on 3AW when asked why Aints had to wear away strip explained it by saying "The AFL has an obligation to Showcase the game"

Right! It all makes sense now!

WTF, Go figure. A future in politics after AFL?

Posted (edited)

As far as alt strip goes I actually think the Sainters training strip with top red band over white with central StKilda shield together with black shorts looks quite good . IMHO netter than the extra wide white jumper. .

Vladimir & showcasing !!! Ffs nothing about clashing ... Just pretiness meh

That is an absolute disgrace to say that seriously. No regard for any history.

It's all about marketing eh Vlad????

Yeah, agreed.

Actually St.Kilda are really quite lucky with respect to clash strips. Their colours are already red/black/white so its not a colour (white) issue for them

Their only issue is maybe design or tradition

Our issue with clash strips is quite different

OK. For the last time. This is what I was referring to:

Oh, and by the way, its pretty hard to come up with good designs when 80+% of the jumper has to be white

Think about that one

That to me says 'There will never be a good design with a predominantly white jumper'. OK? That's how that post reads. That is what I was talking about. Then you covered your tracks.

Let us agree to disagree, and end this conversation here.

That is Totally correct.

You will never have a good design when a jumper is 80% white.

White is the shade of surrender, and Vlad knows it!!! B)

Progress. He's dropped the disingenuous clash excuse.

OK, guess I could have worded that better

I should have said "no design will get rid of the white"

Gets a bit semantic I know, but I think you now know what I was trying to say. Simply just that its the colour not the design

ok, the end

The saints wore that jumper with the black cross thing in the middle of their jumper with red on top and white on the bottom of their jumper in the 1997 granny didn't they?? Surely their supporters are used to it

good catch - but thats not their current clash strip. I think a lot of Saints fans prefer the 1997 version (too dark for Vlad though)

1997 GF

Had a suspicion that the 1997 strip was actually their home strip

Sure enough it was from 1997-2001 - check out Footy Jumpers

Ooops, sorry, I think I misread your post

You weren't saying it was a clash strip

You were saying they changed even their home jumper so they are used to it - gotcha

Have a look at the awful change they made for 1915-22 (due to wwI - but it didnt bother them for wwII) - black/red/yellow

Yeah true. Could be right about their home jumper, maybe a marketing thing back in the 90's. So really they had started all of this multiple jumper crap and have no one else to blame but themselves.

I have absolutely no problem with White Numbers or White Shorts for our away games.

But the Jumper & Socks....Don't get me Started...(again)!!!!!! B)

P.S. That '97 saints jumper was a dead set shocker, that evolved when they moved to waverley & the players liked it because they were winning games in it.

But not the GF. They started all this Crap.
