"WE LOVE YOU JIMMY" banner idea

I would love to see a massive 40 metre long red and blue banner be made up with the words, "WE LOVE YOU JIMMY" written on it.

The banner could be unveiled in the crowd on the wing either before or during the Essendon game at the MCG (or both), like the banners they have in the soccer matches overseas.

It would be a great way of showing Jimmy and the football community our love and appreciation we all have for the great man.

Surely as supporters we could raise the funds independantly. I would assume we would need permission from the club and MCG to unveil it. Obviously it would be best to keep it a secret from Jimmy until the unveiling.

Example of the type of banner i was proposing:DSC00643.jpg?t=1276610221

love it. Send an email to Cameron Schwab first and if you get the OK get some costings and then put it to the forum. You know what happened last time we raised money for a good cause!

This is a fantastic idea, maybe the size needs to be a little smaller, but no doubt a very very good idea.

Do it for jimmy. I cannot see the MFC or the MCC saying no, as long as all health and safety issues are covered.

33,000+ members sending love and wishes to our President. We are a great club getting better.

Im all for it Haydo. Do you need Cam Schwabs email address? Let me know and I will pm you.

Cheers

Yes with a capital yes

I'll buy a couple of rolls of crepe paper for this...

Seriously Haydo that is a great idea!!! It is a brilliant sight when done well. They have had something similar for previous grand finals where they drag the banner from the back of the crowd in the lower tier.

Health and safety... ppfftt it's fabric!

Cam S I'm sure you can sort this out as a mark of respect to one of the greatest ever Demons on the field and off it.

Im in!

He is a member here. Haydo, you could just visit he's profile. Message (PM) him that way or get he's email there.

Good idea Haydo. Might want to speak to the appropriate person rep for the MCC/MCG at the G too.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
