Pick me? Who would you pick?

Port Melbourne in the early 80's was a different place. The better half worked Saturdays and if I recall most games were on Saturday afternoon so I would walk into the G and watch my beloved Dees get flogged but come away thinking "it will get better we might win next week". (Yep I am one of those annoying optimists.) It didn't get much better until I left the State for work and then it was still patchy.

I still relish the thought of being able to walk up to the game however these days I religiously drive over to a mates and we watch the game on the TV in the Neitz Room.

For those at the game on Saturday you may have missed the commentary on Foxtel.

Buggered if I know who said it but one of the pundits said:

"We are witnessing something happening here, the rebirth of a club. Look at those Supporters they know it as well." (or something like that, he also graciously sent a cheerio to Jimmy).

He is right.

We now have belief in a great future and a club that values our contribution from the stands or in front of the TV in some distant place.

Every one of us has done the hard yards and deserves to be picked in the team to sit on the bench. I'd love to be there. Probably sell my old mum for the right (she's a saints supporter so she has to go anyway).

So for my 25 words I thought who should be there? Our oldest supporter, our youngest, the one who can prove they have sat in the rain week in week out (probably get my vote).

Big Jimmy and his family are obvious choices for me.

Some would be a disruptive presence.
