Miller to Full Back!!!

If you are going to drop players I would be looking at dropping players that aren't putting in the effortrequired before I would be looking at Miller,Bate etc.

At least if you're having a go you are encouraging your team mates to do the same.Bate seemed under done and as we know is capable of playing some pretty good football when fit.I would certainly play him again this week as he needs to get more game time under his belt.

For this week IMO the players need to make a committment to each other before the game to have a real dip at winning the football and winning the ball back if they lose it.If they make a bunch of mistakes so be it ,but at least they wont feel they have let anyone down (Coach, supporters, club, each other)if they come out with some fierce determination and effort.

Miller playing down back has some merit and instruct him to crash some bodies. We can't just surrender meekly to Collingwood this week. Our team needs to set some performance standards.

I would also think about having someone man mark Swan as he provides a lot of drive for Collingwood. What do others think and who could do the job? Could Bartram do it?

Miller to the back line -- excellent. We've officially done the full circle.

Miller offers nothing that the large bodied Warnock and Frawley do not. Despite his limitations there's still a need for him in the forward line. He's completely surplus to requirements in defence.

Funny how i got absolutely caned throughout the preseason for my negative comments towards Miller and for trying to push my belief that he is not an AFL player and not in our best 22, yet now that everyone has finally realised it its perfectly ok to have a thread which contains direct critisisms of him. It great to finally see people have woken form their naivity.

Anyway back to the point, I know its logical to think that playing youngsters in place of experienced players would give rise to a bigger belting, given how badly some of the senior players played (miller, bruce, dunn etc) would it be plausible that some of the kids like cheney, Maric, Jetta may actually put in a more competitive, spirited performance given the lack of support these "leader" provide anyway? I think the quicker we weed out some of these so called experienced players the better.

Yeah ,but you could give Warnock or Frawley a go up forward, at least at the start of the game to change things up a bit.

Miller has played down back before earlier in his career and done a pretty good job.

My whole point was to give Brad Miller some confidence back. He is a strong bodied tough bloke, and i just look at someone like Prestigiacomo (god knows if i spelt that right) from Collingwood, and i think that Miller could do a similar job. he would also have more pace than Warnock. Of course this still doesnt solve our Forward line problems, which is obviously the only reason Miller is still getting a game.

Dont bother tagging Swan, he goes in and gets the hardball every week, might as well tag someone like Pendlebury. I dont even like thinking about whats going to happen to my beloved Dees this wk...

Warnock actually has quite a bit of pace, probably more than Miller. He's very quick for his size. This was mentioned as one of his primary strengths when he was drafted. Miller's just as likely to have a blinder forward next week as is he to have another stinker like last week (such is the nature of Miller), and the forward line is where the holes are. I'd leave him there. If he struggles again, so be it.

Fair enough on the Warnock point. And i'm not that keen on changing our backline too much either, the problem probably lies further up field.

With regards to the our forward line though, i refer to a famous saying. Why change something thats not broken? So the complete opposite of that tells me that our Forward line is broken, so lets change it!!! At least if we put smaller blokes in, we could lock it in for more longer.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
