In > Out

Sylvia > Dunn (Sylia the automatic selection, Dunn is effectively a senior player in this squad and needs to be held accountable this year)

Martin > Spencer (Martin surely has more potential, upside and flexibility than Spencer who isnt ready for senior AFL at best)

Garland > Miller (We are setting up around Miller which is completely wrong - lets see what Bate, Pettered and Garland have with Miller out of the way for a few weeks)

The mindset that we are at at the moment, negative, it should be

A challenge to nullify Davis or Didak will only improve Strauss and show him he has the ability at AFL level

Realistic more than negative. The possibility of a Didak, Davis or Medhurst type going berserk is very real this weekend. The footy is likely going to be pumped in there

very frequently. I'd save the 'challenge' for Strauss for a few more games until he finds his feet or at least until we're playing lesser opposition.

A senior player should take responsibility for this type of role this week and not leave it to a second gamer.

The Footy Show had Sylvia, Bartram and Maric coming in.

I don't think we can carry Spencer, Bartram maybe in for Dunn but I'm not sure that achieves much. Maric possibly in for Bennell? Not too sure all 3 of those will make the final 22.

We can't afford to carry Spencer IMO.

Agree. What's the story with Stef Martin?

Can anyone in the Queensland area let me know if the game is on TV in Surfers Paradise at all,I don't think we have foxtel where we will be staying.Going up on holidays and would still like to watch the game.

the reason spencer gets a run is because we have injuries....he's not up to it at the moment...but i do believe he's fit enough.

blokes like davey and bate struggled last week because they had limited preseason. if you come into an AFL game underdone your going to get exposed...bails has to now play these players into fitness.

bails is screwed both ways...a gun player who's not fit or avg player who is fit...which do you go for? i believe he goes for youth at the moment....

Pfft.

They have no idea. I guess they just took the 3 emergencies, then swapped Sylvia for Bail (probably because no-one there has heard of Bail).

The Footy Show producers don't just guess who the squad might be. They are provided by the clubs but are not binding when it comes to Thursday night's official selections.

Juice and Sylvia are in.

Spencer and Miller out is what i have heard!

No ruck in ?

no ruck against 3 Jolly, Fraser and Brown, we couldn't be that stupid

They proabably want Jamar to be accountable, being in three places at once he should be able to do that, I will till 5pm to see the squad.

Miller out will be a huge kick in the teeth if true.

No forwards at all, and he gets dropped. - and rightly so.

It's about time.

It's a shame that Newton is the replacement, but even he'd probably be more useful than Miller if he was given the same amount of chances.

Cheney should get a game, which ever small forward Bennell lines up on will kick 7.

After last week's effort from the Footy Show (picking the promoted players before they were actually promoted) I don't think like this.

what was the footy shows ins last week vs the actual ins?

Well it was round one, so I'm not sure how to answer that.

But they picked Mckenzie and Spencer.

How do you know that?

Also, Presti's out. If we had a key forward, that would be somewhat interesting.

Does including Newton cost us money?

Does including Newton cost us money?

I don't think so, because he was already on his original contract.

From MFC website..

Round Two Selection

After a disappointing performance last weekend the Demons have made two changes for this Saturday’s clash with Collingwood at the MCG.

Michael Newton - who was today elevated to the senior list - has been added to the team after racking up 29 possessions and kicking four goals for Casey last weekend, along with midfielder/defender Rohan Bail, who comes in for just his second AFL game.

Newton has worked hard all summer to regain a place on the senior list, and joins fellow rookies Jake Spencer and Jordie McKenzie on the senior list in place of injured trio Max Gawn, Luke Tapscott and Liam Jurrah.

Jared Rivers goes out of the side with a minor knee injury, while Brad Miller has been omitted. Colin Sylvia will miss one more week with a broken jaw.

Still persisting with spenser, looks like we are one man short when he is playing!

Unrealistic for Sylvia to be back so soon after injury.

Newton....well now.

Have we pick a more inexperienced bench than this week before?

I think this would have to be one of most inexperienced teams we have fielded ever.

I am not sure we have a better big man option than Spencer atm.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
