Somebody was asking the question on Ology, but can't get on there to post, Scarves will be available for pickup from Gates 1, 3 and 5 at the G on the day, alongside the Membership tent, if you come to 5 it will probably be me handing over the new hooped beauty, had mine since Visy Practice Game

Awesome. Only re-signed yesterday, so I'll have to wait a week or two before I am wearing mine proudly.

I'd love if the club alternated each year between a cap and and scarf. The scarves are great on those cold twilight games (think adelaide last year), but I seem to have an abundance of them. Caps can be worn all year round too!

I was speaking to Marketing guy at the club, he basically said that the scarf is traditional and the 'traditionalists' withinn the Club's membership don't want a change......so I assume from that they have investigated

I'd agree with - a scarf is important vital to our image as a football club.

Given a choice I think too many would choose against a scarf and dilute this image, which is once again vital in attracting new members.

At least, this is what I think.

i love the scarf too (and by the sounds of it, the hooped scarf of 2010 is looking pretty good), but i do seem to have about 10 of them. a cap would be nice in a couple of years when we have the late september saturday sun beaming down on us.

Apart from the scarf being traditional, it is also the most practical, ie can be worn by everyone, the problem with a cap or hat iw what style do you make it, personally I don't wear the peaked caps, beanie yes, a lot of the female members would not wear a peaked cap either I am sure, so would we have to make a few designs, which would cost money we don't have at the moment.........I think there are enough caps/hats on sale at the Megastore which are reasonably priced with the members discount for those who want to wear them, during the cold days my partner wears a bright red beanie with devils horns on it we found in a Heavy Metal shop in Canberra, it is the only headgear she will wear.

If I got a cap this year, I would not need to buy one. If the club alternates what they send, there is no need to buy merchandise, and it reduces the profits. Sending the same product every year is a smart move financially for the club.

My Mum sews together all the remaining scarves from each year and makes a blanket out of them...

Great for taking to the 'G for a bit of colour on a cold day - and also good just to rug up when you're watching TV at home.

Another friend turned hers into a set of pants! Look hilarious and really good.

It would be great to have a choice of either a cap or scarf. I e-mailed the club a couple of years ago with this suggestion but did not get a reply (again!).

At a guess a scarf would be cheaper to produce than a cap, but I would be happy to pay an extra $10 (or whatever) for a members 'only' cap.

Personally, I only wear the scarf at the footy. I would wear the peaked cap nearly everyday and this would provide great advertising of the Melbourne Football Club and the club sponsors.

I've seen other clubs 'Members Only' peaked caps and they look great!

Traditions are great but sometimes a change, or at least a choice, is needed.

I'd just take a membership. Two business days left until round 1, my money was taken out 18th December.... phone calls.. emails.. still nothing in the mailbox.

I know how you feel. I just got my membership today, which I promptly let fall behind my piano. Half an hour later and I finally got it back where it belonged.

I went to the Mega Store today, stopped at cricketers arms for a pot before the long trek across to the MCG, :P I bought a new polo shirt, i would of bought the 2010 members shirt, but the material was pretty average, the design is good,

i also got my new members scarf which is a pretty good design,

so it was a very productive day indeed!

ive got half a dozen scarves all sewn together with a head hole left in the middle, poncho style, great for cooler night games.

got my scarf today!

TAPSCOTT was actually suited up in the mcc area handing out scarfs! it was a year ago i saw Wheatley doing the same thing!

i had a few froffys on the way in and saw tappy handing out the merch and got a little excited.. walked up and said "hey tapscott" (really should have referred to him as luke.. the froffys talking!)

i asked him about his injury and he said he should be good to go by round 8.. and should be back running in the next few weeks and should be playing caseys fairly soon!

also asked him how he is enjoying melbourne.. he said he is loving it.. (probably the standard response but he did sound genuine!)

then i looked him right in the eye and half joking said "well you and Trengove better not think of going back home damnit!!" he laughed and said 'no that wont happen"

then he probably called security on me..

anyway.. really nice kid and pretty much was the highlight of the day.. wasnt hard though..

Living in the West, I don't have the luxury of picking up the scarf. Had a few from when I lived in Melbourne & gave one to a Demons supporter here, But when I need a cap, sometimes I pull out one they were selling at training before the 2000 GF along the lines of Melbourne 2000 grand finalist. I love it because people here can't believe we were in a GF this decade. Well, not sure I can, either.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
