New Home Page Design

Featured Replies

Posted

Hi Guys,

With the new season almost upon us I've been working hard the past few days to come up with a new homepage design that blends well into the rest of the site (ie: the forums).

Check it out here: http://www.demonland.com or just click the Home button above.

It basically gives a summary of the rest of the site (ie: recent posts and articles) as well as Demons and AFL news, the Demonland twitter feed as well as an Upcoming Events Calendar.

Let us know what you think.

Go Dees!

Andy

Love it Demonland - Well done!!

It's a bit heavy on information. Useful if you know what you want to look for, but imagine being a newby and confronted with that. It's a touch overwhelming. Also I think the shade of red being used is too bright. It really leaps off the page in contrast to the dark blue. Tends to give me a headache.

Aside from that, I love the look of the place.

I have recently joined Demonland and love the new look. I had always found Demonology easier to read but have never been able to join there. The new look is better now then Demonology IMO, so congratulations on the changes...

Only one grumble - the contrast of the font is not strong against a white background. bit hard to read unless displayed in a large font. How about using black please?

Have to agree that there's a bit of an overload of info on the homepage. Probably don't need to show active members there, for one.

I do like the links to Demon-related news articles, though.

I agree. Just kinda hit me in the face for a second before I realised what was happening. Info is good, just theres lots of it....

other thing I just found out, which might be handy for others, forum pages formats doesn't seem to be compatible with google chrome. or its just me...

Works fine with Google Chrome on a Mac. Will try it out on the PC at work tomorrow. I see no reason why it wouldn't display properly but I will stand corrected if it doesn't.

I'll admit i like the old "Home page" better it just looked great and as some others have noted not as busy/clutered, totaly up too you i will read it regardless as i just love it the forums and information is fantastic and its great everyone (inc myself) gets to provide there OWN point of view keep it up...

ps got some money coming for you guys just waiting for a few things to happin

Not sure what everyone's bitching and complaining about. I love the fact that the homepage is now like a portal for all things Demons. I get the latest forum posts, the latest articles, match previews and reports and the latest Demons news all on the one page.

Thank you Demonland. Most of us appreciated the hard work you have put in over the past few weeks to bring us this wonderful site.

BTW works fine with Google Chrome on a PC too.

Whilst reading this I was thinking that you need to get an iPhone as it displays the site beautifully.

As for your display picture. In the settings where you put the picture up there are two options change photo and change avatar. The photo is your display picture for the top right of the page and the avatar is for the picture below you name when you post. It's stupid that there are two options for essentially the same thing.

on second thoughts, just had another look this morning, and yeah, its handy having links to all things demons.

and thanks for the responses about google chrome... i'll have to work out whats wrong then.

The problem with older phones/traditional phone phones is that they aren't made or designed to view webpages as they are meant to be viewed on a computer screen. The iPhone and other smart phones are made to be able to view web content as they are on a screen.

Its pays to count to ten sometimes..lol At first I wasnt that enamoured with the redesign. Seems a bit retro... But upon looking at it via my iPhone I can see exactly where ya coming from. Top job :))

New site looks great.

Just noticed a small spelling mistake on the front page. Demons Fourm.

Next time you are viewing the homepage or the forum, press the + at the bottom of the screen and click Add to Homescreen. It will add Melbourne Jumper logo onto your Homescreen for quick access to the site.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
