Alleged Jack Watts injury

Featured Replies

Was listening to James Macdonald being interviewed on 3aw last night. Admitted that Jack Watts has a back injury and has hardly done any pre-season - unlikely to play in the first half of the season...

The above is from a friend of mine. Can anyone else vouch for this?

i understand he had a niggling injury but i dont think there was mention of "missing half a season".

I listened to that interview and I am sure there was no mention of him missing half the season. But he did mention a niggle with his back which has precluded him from training.

I was at at BBQ with Jack on the weekend and he told me that he had a VERY slight quad strain and was 50/50 for the NAB cup opener against Freo.

I listened to that interview and I am sure there was no mention of him missing half the season. But he did mention a niggle with his back which has precluded him from training.

So was that "virus" pre xmas we all heard about actually this back problem? People have been mentioning him in recent training reports so i assume he is now training?

I'm sure there was an article on the MFC site about a month ago which indicated that Jack had been ill before Christmas, but he was now back on the track and a possibility for Round 1. Also, there were reports on here of him doing some ruck-work at training on 8 Feb., and I can't imagine that this would be the case if he had a long-term injury.

Junior certainly DID NOT say "Jack Watts has a back injury and has hardly done any pre-season." NOR did he say "unlikely to play in the first half of the season." What he said was that Jack hasn't had the pre-season he would have liked, and he's had a few niggles.

What bits did McDonald say, and what bits did your friend say. That paragraph makes absolutely no sense.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
