Who will we take with Pick 18?

Featured Replies

While picks 1 and 2 seem a little clearer as to who the MFC might pick up,who do those of you that follow the TAC cup closely think would benefit the club at pick 18?

Who are the best candidates? and What type of player do we go for?

This is made more difficult by the fact that we won't know who's going to by left by that stage. The beauty of picks 1 & 2 is that we can pick whoever we wish.

Having said that, in another thread I went with Tappscot, Panos or Carlisle. All forwards, who can take some of the pressure away from Watts and Jurrah. I can invisage a forwardline, where Watts and Jurrah play in the middle and on the flanks and a Panos, Tappscot or Carlisle are the key target inside 50. If we need a pack mark, Watts will be capable at some stage of taking it. He just needs more muscle and he will be able to play the Riewoldt role.

ahem...cough... !!

ooh...looky here...a whole forum for this Demonland..Drafting & Trading

enjoy !! ;)

Timely question. A lot depends on whether we take Butcher or a mid (Trengove) at #2, and who is still available.

My ideal for #18 would be Talia but he's very unlikely to still be available at #18. In fact, we could even consider taking Talia instead of Butcher at #2 IMO.

But the most likely scenario is Trengove at #2 and the best remaining tall at #18.

Of the talls we might have a chance to get at pick 18, at least one of Panos, Carlisle, Griffiths or maybe Black from WA should be left come our pick. (touch wood)

Havn't seen much of carlisle but personally um not sold on him.

In a draft shallow of forwards his probably rated last out of the decent forwards e.g butcher talia panos.

Can someone who has seen more of him explain what makes him a potential good forward.

I wouldn't mind a ruckman, Craig, Vardy or Fitzpatrick

One of Matthew Panos, Nathan Vardy or Jake Carlisle. Surely one of them will be available?

Majak Daw.

He may be a complete bust, but who really cares at No. 18 after we've just had picks 1 and 2?

I had doubt that he would get picked up but after watching that gee he looks impressive real impressive. If he was around by 34 that would be fantastic. More upside then Spencer thats for sure

Thanks M2W

Surprised more people don't want him at the club. We need a ruck and he can go forward as it seems. His kicking looks pretty good and he has a big racking handball on him.

Majak Daw. Koo Wee!

If he is available at Pick 34 I would snap him up no problemo. Looks better than Naitanui! I could imagine those to head to head in 3 years.

I would even consider using Pick 18. If we want him we must strike before the Bombers do.

If I was Melbourne I would be working my arse off to get a trade for a top 20-25 pick.

Scully, Trengove, Panos, Daw would be sensational.

Jamar to Port Power for there 2nd Pick? Thats if Jamar wants to go as rumoured. Add Bell if Port interested.

Agreed. Like you said, just from watching that highlights package he seems to have the athletic ability, and quite a large frame already would put him in good stead for the big league. Surely someone will pounce on him as a rookie?

I had only read about him in the newspaper articles, but am impressed.

An african Nik Nat?

Thanks M2W

I'm hoping to trade for an early 2nd Rnd pick.

I'd like to use a second rounder on a tall forward & also hopefully another to grab Colyer.

Im reaching for panadol as I write.. it seems to me that part and parcel of who we will get is somewhat dependant on what other clubs need and who they take at the various junctures.

Currently trying to put my thoughts into the minds of other clubs... proving painful..lol

Still think trade week will have a bearing on this as I have an inkling we wont have pick 18 at all.. but have a higher 20 but have landed a disgruntled decent player from elsewhere....but at a cost albeitly. Such is the nature of trading

Depending on whether we go mid/mid or mid/kfwd with 1 & 2, either Panos/Carlisle or Tapscott. I am loving each and every scenario.

I'd be satisfied with Vardy (follower/forward) @ 18 if we also took another Key forward @ 34, or if we traded for an extra, early 2nd Rnd pick.

Woa, i just watched that Vid'. I saw him live (Daw), early season when I went to watch Fitzpatrick, whom I was I was dissappointed with.

I don't remember him (DAW), playing like that.

Geez, thats a huge improvement. Thats almost better than Naitinui.

Yeah, pick 18 is definately on the cards.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
