7 of those players I would like to see playing in our starting 18 by round 8:

Grimes- upon full fitness he must be in our starting 18. Along with Bennell, Grimes is the final link in the chain of our defence.

Robertson- will atleast give our young midfield something to kick to for the next 2 years. Important player till Watts and Co come along

Wonaeamirri- boy have we missed out forward pocket! Bailey quoted for saying he expected Wona to be a 20% better play this yr!

Buckley- We have missed his pace and dash. No one else in the team is willing to run the lines like him. Our only runner with pace.

Watts – Future FF, get him in to the team ASAP

Whelan – A great player, crueled by injuries. If he is fit, his talent should not be wasted in Casey.

Maric- Didn't play at Casey (an emergency in case Bartram didn't play i assume), but is EASILY in our best 22. don't know how he hasn't been named yet.

7 players to get into the team in the coming weeks! + Bell and Bartram possibilities! That's a big number.

Players that I would drop to Casey to give space for the above players to come in:

- Dunn

- Jetta

- Bennel

- Bartram

- Newton

- ???

This is a really great service from Peter German. Seems like the club wants to keep us informed.

I have info that Bail is the goods and will also push for selection soon given some good performances at Casey. He is a midfielder with good pace and good disposal, we don't have too many of those.

What the coach said … with Peter German

"The match was played in horrendous conditions, particularly early on. We could really only score at one end, but the way we played in the final quarter was nothing short of sensational."

How German rated the Melbourne listed players …

Seniors

Daniel Hughes – Daniel was very good. He got a bit of a knock early, but pushed through it and kicked a couple of goals. He kicked the most outstanding goal of the day, from the boundary and into the breeze about 40 metres out – it was almost from an impossible angle. He came up from the reserves to show some of the class he's got. Daniel also took some fine marks as a hit-up forward. It was a really solid game from him.

Tom McNamara – Tom played at half-back and was in our top four players. He restricted his opponent and also got his hands on the ball. He read the ball really well in the windy conditions.

These 2 caught my eye. Good signs. Hughes showed potential for Sandy before his injuries - quick and a good grab. 188cm and 84kg, 23 in December. Hopefully his body can stay sound. McNamara was I think the youngest player taken in the 2007 NRD, played 3 games for Sandy last year before doing his hammy. Had a few injuries over the pre season but German's reports on him seem very positive. 189cm and 87kg. Turns 19 on the 29th of this month. If he keeps his form up must come into contention for a senior debut particularly in the abscence of Colin Garland.

Great news there for Tom. Was wondering if we'd ever see him pushing for selection. His first game back(?) in the VFL 1's and he's named in the sides best 4 by the coach. Very encouraging signs indeed.

You have to be kidding. One of the brightest sparks this season.

Read before typing.

The bests provided above, which Tmac is not included in, i'm assuming are written up by the media, rather than internally. German's assesment of Tom's game: "Tom McNamara – Tom played at half-back and was in our top four players. He restricted his opponent and also got his hands on the ball. great to hear Tommy Mac is in good form... I've always liked what I've heard about that boy... I'm wondering where he's going to fit into this team though... Backline is going to be hard to break into...

Will this Trent Zomer character ever play for MFC?

Will Valenti again?

Add Buckley, Grimes, Maric, Robertson, Wonna, Wheatley, Garland and Green to Sunday's side and all of a sudden there is some depth there, and it is looking a lot better.

Surely valenti is pushing?

Go tottenham ;)

he is a rookie, so we would need to put garland on the LTI...

But do we really need another inside mid with average skills... with mclean, jones, moloney and sylvia im not sure he is needed

Based on that info got to get Grimes, Robbo & Maric into the side for Dunn, Bartram & Jetta. Wonna and Whelan sound like they could probably do with one more hit out for Casey.

re: Bennell. Totally agree he has given us spark and drive off the half back line. Well worth persisting at AFL level.

For those unable to get to the next game, I'm pretty sure it is being televised live on ABC Grandstand this Saturday.

I haven't seen a few of the new recruits yet so it will be an interesting viewing.

We can't believe what German says because his being biased and seeing it with rose coloured glasses on. He won't tell the truth to the public what he really thinks.
