Okay so last year, I was sent two membership packs. Bit weird, but hey.

Today I received my letter with my Mebourne FC gold membership card... pumped...

Then, I check out the attached merchandise. You know, the stickers etc.

Seriously, how can that even happen.

Combined with not receiving the Age delivery subscription I bought three months ago once, some-one down at the club is going to cop an absolute earful tomorrow.

One of your mates has swapped it. MFC wouldn't have any connection to St.k membership. [censored] i would be furious, i have no time for the Saints even though i live in the area, they are a joke.

 

Its more than likely that the stickers get printed in the same printing house somewhere in China.

Its an easy-ish mistake to make I spose, but yes shouldn't really happen.

In regards to The Age sub, well I dont think that actually starts until the season proper. So perhaps next week?

The real question is.. if it comes from the same printing house, do the St Kilda stickers fade out as quickly as the Melbourne ones???


Isn't it that the membership services for many of the clubs (particularly smaller ones) are all managed by a single outfit. So it costs less for Melbourne.

Unfortunate, but I wouldn't go getting upset about it.

In regards to The Age sub, well I dont think that actually starts until the season proper. So perhaps next week?

mine took about 1.5 months to start but have had it since early jan. Even though you have paid the club, its the local news agent/age that organise delivery so it may not be the MFC fault.

Re the sitckers, I'm sure you will have them replaced and if you look at the bright side you have been given some free toilet paper in the mean time (might be a little glossy though)!

Outsourcing does have its downsides, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that one but let the club know that there's a problem so that they can nip it on the bud (I hope).

Re the Age subscription it starts as soon as you pay for it. To get it sorted call the Age subscription # 13 66 66, it's a call centre so have a thermos of tea handy because it will probably take awhile.

i got home yesterday and opened it up with joy thinking about time

cos ive signed up for the first time this yr and everything was fine

until i saw half the bloody thing was st kilda stuff!!, like the stickers,

fridge magnet and some other things...

WTF!!

Now i do find it slightly hilarious, but seriously, give me a break,

even if they were done in china or some other country, how can

this even happen?!

It is all contracted out and you will find as stated above one company will supply several clubs. If this is one pack out of 23,000 that has been sent out thats not a bad percentage considering the cost saving by out sourcing this.

Its obviously a mistake but fancy getting upset at buying something of value and receiving a piece of crap.

More than anything, I'd be more concerned that there's a smartarse St Kilda supporter working where they are packaged and thinks its funny to sabotage our memberships.

I wouldn't blame the club & I find it hard to believe this would be an accident.

being that there are a couple of these cases I would suggest contact the membership department and put the above to them!

Maybe we can invoice the SFC for advertising!

So it wasn't only me. That's good to know.

Yeah I'm sure it was just a mistake but I thought it was pretty funny, so I was hamming it up and feigning extreme incredulity in my OP.

Re the Age sub, I've been on the phone to the local newsagent once, the age twice, and the MFC once, and all say it's someone else's fault. Oh well, didn't cost much, so I'll consider it a donation.

I'm creating a dartboard laden with the St Kilda paraphenalia so at least Hayes' head will come in handy.

I say this from a very simple business and marketing philosophy point of view. The idea that this may have happened to rusted on and loyal supporters and therefore not too much need for great concern simply does not cut it anymore.

If so, they should squeeze their "supplier" for some concession and offer those supporters this has happened to, some additional one off benefit, such as an invitation to a pre-game President's lunch, which afterall, we are told will be less formal this year.

The Club should be taking the steps to get it fixed with the 3rd party supplier who is clearly at fault. I would have thought a simple communication to affected members to explain the problem and what is being done to rectify it.

In the end no one has been grossly inconvenienced by the matter and offering all affected parties "one off benefit" like a free pre game President's lunch is unnecessary, implies that the problem is bigger than it actually is and is unaffordable for a Club that is so financially straightened. Its overkill.

As we say in the trade, this is "below the line" marketing. It is cheap, cost effective and gets the job done.

There is no such thing as "overkill", when it comes to keeping "customers" happy.

Its above the line cost that is not cheap nor cost effective. It does not address the problem at hand (the incorrect delivery of the stickers) nor rectify the issue for the customer. The problem was not that big an issue but it should be rectified.

In this financial climate and given the status of the Club's finances I dont think there is any justification in this instance for giving out unwarranted and costly jollies.

Dont drown in the cliches though.

why dont you put the sticker of lenny hayes in the shed, and throw darts at it,i got my members pack in the mail yesterday, i better go an open it . :lol:

The same point remains. Its MFC that incurred the error from the supplier and it would be good but highly unlikely if they were significantly recompensed. However the only problem supporters had who received the packages was they got Saints stickers and not MFC stickers. Hardly the end of the world for them and not deserving of any compensation.

    I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

    The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
