IMO the catalyst for all this flooding &/or zoning is the extra interchange numbers over the last few years coupled with improved medical/fitness regimes that allow the players to run harder back & forth in bursts prior to a bench rest.

This is all happening since we increased the No of interchange spots on the bench.

I've been saying for a couple of seasons now, reduce the interchange back to 3 + 2 emergencies.

The dogs were flooding under Wallace well before players were being rotated every 5 minutes.

I know I'll be in the minority here but I believe that reducing interchanges could lead to even uglier football than what we've seen in the NAB cup.

A lot of knee jerk reactions going on here - when has any team looked pretty in the NAB cup?

Give it til round 5 or 6 then feel free to give the AFL a miss and go support your local club

I think you are just falling into the trap that the AFL wants us to be in - change the game every 15 minutes so we can justify the Rules Committees existence. The game has gone along just fine for 150 years with minimal tweaking but in the last 10-15 there seems to be a new rule every season. I'm not having a go at you but I'd really like to see a 5 year moratorium on rules and let's just see the game work itself out. A good coach, with a good team, will always beat any plan that can be conceived.

I Totally agree with you on the 5 year Moratorium on the rules. I just think the Rules that have been tampered with in the last 10-15 years have gone too far. Time will tell & yes maybe i am over reacting but last week i turned the Footy off & that is the First i have ever done that in 40 years. Beware AFL

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
