The Peter Summers Phonecall to SEN -- Hoax

Featured Replies

Hi all,

With absolute no disrespect to the Melbourne Football Club and anyone who reads Demonland, but I can 100% confirm that Pete Summers did not ring SEN and he would never say that Melbourne FC players are "pricks and wankers".

I am not getting on my high horse and trying to defend one of our players but Pete Summers is one of the nicest and most respectable people I have ever met in football and he said 'at no stage would he ever contemplate ringing SEN or criticising the Melbourne Football Club'.

Pete has the utmost respect for the Melbourne Football Club and the players who contributed to our success and he is still very close friends with a number of the players and would not criticise them under any circumstances.

I understand that people do ring in to radio stations as pranks and I do think that this was a prank that has now gone too far and we at the Sandringham Football Club would like to put this unfortunate issue to bed once and for all.

On behalf of the Sandringham Football Club I would like to wish the players and the Melbourne Football Club all the best for 2009 and beyond, I hope that their alignment with Casey is as successful as the alignment was with Sandringham and I hope that as Melbourne supporters you can still all keep a close eye on the Zebras and follow us whenever you can.

Thank you and Kind Regards

Thanks Luke.

Some here might like the opportunity to offer an apology of their own, though most seemed to agree that it was a hoax anyway.

I've split your post off in to a topic of its own, and deleted the original thread. No need to keep it now given it was based some tool having a lend.

Thanks Luke ... the clarification is appreciated. It's a great pity that a small minority out here have nothing better to do with their time than to make a nuisance of themselves ...... and their form is 10 times as poor when they tarnish the good names of others along the way! The recent change in the MFC / VFL affiliation, dictates that I will have to change my VFL allegiance to the Scorpions, but as an old Sandy boy now living in Canberra, the Zebras will always hold an important place in my heart.

....

Glad to hear it, i'm a local to Bayside and have absolutely loved being able to support both the MFC and Sandy. I too wish you all the best with your new arrangement with the Saints and i certainly will keep a close watch on the Zebras, i may even continue supporting them i the future.

Well, in that case I owe Peter and the Sandringham F.C. an apology, sorry guys!

Glad that's been sorted out.....and well done jarka for having the balls to apologise...

Thanks for coming on here Luke.

I didn't hear the interview, but for those who did how certain were the presenters that they had Peter Summers on the line? Luke, you and your football club should follow this up with SEN, as it's pretty poor form from SEN letting a caller impersonate a VFL footballer and cause problems like this.

Well, in that case I owe Peter and the Sandringham F.C. an apology, sorry guys!

Well done Jarks!

That's the sort of class I'd expect from Sandringham.

Thanks Luke & all the best to the club.

i need to owe the melbourne football club an apology because i put the onous of that "phone call" on them

I started the thread originally as I was the one who originally heard the conversation , and whilst I believe there was nothing in the discussion to suggest that it was a hoax , I am prepared to accept the wishes of the Sandringham Football Club representative as sincere .

I know this is was a month ago but I just wanted to say that I'm with Luke.

I met Peter a few times at Sandy games and he is a great bloke. Always spoke highly of the Melbourne players that were in the side so I got no issues with this. Good to hear its over

That sort of call just had to be a hoax. People like Peter in positions they hold are not that stupid.

I also wish Sandy all the best and as a fairly regular spectator over the years of our alignment I will find it pretty difficult to barrack against them, but I will when they play Casey. On other occasions I wish them success.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
