Not Jack but Jennifer Watt of the Melbourne Football Club, our hard working General Manager Marketing and Communications.

When she heard the Morning Glory crew talking to CEO Cameron Schwab and discussing the fact that they were prepared to become paid up members of the Melbourne Football Club, she went straight into the SEN studio and signed them up on the spote before 9am. Spoke well and positively about MFC supporters and our membership drive. Also said our membership is up compared with this stage last year.

Good to see some initiative taken at the club.

Well done J.W.!

Yes, she said the club is prepared to look far and wide in search for memberships, including the dash to SEN studio's to sign up the crew. Jen did communicate well with the Crew, despite the conversation lasting less than a minute.

Good to hear the memberships are up on same time last year.

With the SUMMIT approaching as well as the exposure on our National draft picks come Nov 29th, I would expect the membership numbers to swell to well above the figure posted the same time last year. Go Demons!

Yeah, from the tiny moments of contact I've had with Jennifer Watt, she's seems pretty much on the ball. There's no doubt she's determined to do a great job. I mean, let's face it, even from a professional perspective anyone associated with getting the Melbourne Football Club back to the status and security it needs will have a gold star on their resume!

I wonder if she's leading the nuts-and-bolts organisation for the summit? That'd be a pretty full-on gig.

250 people all up, counting board, staff, some players are coming too, and of course the rowdy mob that will mostly be Demonland and Demonology downloaded into "3-D portable meat avatars".

I think we can guarantee that there will be a few people who, once they've had their turn, will spend the rest of the day shooting people down with derogatory comments, or just moaning about how it's all too hard. Especially if their contribution isn't given as much time as they would like (which most likely will be many of them).

That'll be the big challenge, keeping people on task and constructive.

Can this thread be dedicated to 'I will not respond to the club's efforts to include supporters by being an arse on an important day' pledges?

Getting my wisdoms out Friday, so I could be pretty useless on Sunday.

I'll just bring lots of notes

yes, i completely forgot about jennifer, she is absolutely fantastic

ive had personal contact with her and she is extremely commited

very organised

replies emails within a couple of hours

She was great help in setting up the Melbourne Birthday Party.

Hopefully we can build that again next year

Totally endorse this thread.

Jennifer has been a very hard working and diligent servant of the MFC for many years, including under several periods of upheaval.

She has always been of great assistence with personal membership aspects. I have also had supporter group and other dealings with her over the last 6 years & she is one of the MFC's key employees.

That is great to have someone so diligent and proactive.

Shame that does not happen all the time.

My boss donated $1000 to the debt demolition (I am sure there are others who donated more) do you think that a "thank you " card would come out.

I also recently emailed the club regarding the birth of my first son just on 6 weeks ago and I asked "for one good reason to sign him up"

Still waiting on a response.

I so want this club to be better.

Are you serious???

Its great about your boss' donation & you being pro-active, but did it ever occur to you that maybe the Demon's don't have the necessary staff to reply to all of these petty requests?

We've just heard in the paper that MFC has to find office space for just over 50 staff, whilst West Coast has 150+.

Or would you prefer the money from the Debt Demolition was spent on extra admin staff to reply to emails, rather than improving the football department or even just ensuring the club survives??

And being a MFC supporter & knowing they are in dire need, why should you need more incentive to sign up your son?

I'm blown away by your self-centredness.

With success on the field & financial stability these trivial matters will be sorted out, but there are more pressing concerns right now

TS, I know what you're saying and largely agree, but on the flip side, it's these little things that the big clubs do so well and its what helps them get bigger and better.

We need to do the basics well, very well, if we are to build our base. Especially into a new market.

I'm free most nights, I'd happily volunteer at the club to answer emails.

Totally endorse your comments about Jen WJ.

My family has had a few dealings with her over the last few years and for professionalism and attentive care to members she can't be beaten.

Well done Jen as always.

We should send some flowers to her care of Demonland.

I'd chip in for sure

Petty requests eh?

I just thought perhaps a 6 week old boy would be exactly what The Dees would be after.

Here is simple me thinking that memberships and supporters are the lifeblood of the club.

Excuse my ignorance.

I am not after much, I can assure you the Bombers would not let an opportunity slip like this.

This is simply an example of why we are behind the 8 ball.

Dont worry he will be signed up!!

Because the way I see it, the bombers have the staff to do it... & that's the 1 & only reason.

I do see what you're saying though & you're exactly right.

I just don't think we're capable of meeting everyone of those sort of requests at the moment.

Glad he'll be signed up & sorry, I'm fiercely defensive of my club, sometimes get carried away.

Passion is what this club sorely lacks so I appreciate it.

Maybe the MFC should pay staff to handle requests, this is how businesses grows.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
