thats the one

i am at school with him

and yes, i rate him higher than jack watts (probably a bit of a bias opinion)

but i dont think he can go into next years draft with the new rules someone was telling me

so will probably be one of those underage players that the gold coast can pick up

il find out on monday

but he is a superstar...BOG for a schoolboy match on the MCG and did not look lost

good at finding space

can take a very strong contested mark

good solid body

booming kick

indegenous heritage

and very competitive...really bleeds for the jumper

there u go

10/01/1992 DOB

someone might be able to find before me

Yeah, watched him on the U\16's coverage on Grand Final Day. Looks the goods. Quick and powerful, good second efforts. So does that DOB put him out of our reach under next years draft eligibility?

Scully's 17 touches in the TAC Cup GF were all class. I'd love it if we got him next year. Pickering and Sheahan were likening him to Voss and Rob Harvey. Courageous and highly skilled. Definately top 3 in next years draft.

i'd rather may

have seen him play 8 games live and everytime he takes a screamer we all jokingly say, "if he kicks this, he will be better than buddy" and he always does

so yeah...hes gonna be better than buddy

They say you have to improve 20% just to maintain your position, with that in mind i think we are destined to finish on bottom with less that 4 wins.

Is Steven may elible for the 09 draft?

Na m8 he is only eligible if GC decides not to select him as a 17 year old. Currently GC is allowed to select 12 seventeen born between Jan-April 1992 which Steven May falls into (born 10 Jan 92). So if hes any good hes gone!

If you want some reading material covering the gross incompetance of GC17 draft inception here it is:

Having seen before how the AFL gives far too many concessions to expansion teams which have lead to certain success (Adel, brisbane, Port and should have been if not for the idiots down at Freo) demetrio obviously feels instance success is a right and not a privaledge

so is there any chance he can come to melbourne next year or is he too young (assuming GC dont take him as an underager)

?

Well it depends how highly rated the bloke is.

If you apply the same drafting rules that apply to GC17 to the 2007 (able to select 12 best seventeen year olds aged between Jan-April) it would look like this:

Tent Cotchin- pick 2

Cale Mortin- pick 4

Patrick Dangerfield- pick 10

Brad Ebert- pick 13

Just in the first round of the draft!

GC also has picks 1,2,3,4,5 in the rookie draft

So %#* you demetrio

That's if the kids agree to go though surely?

Na the kid wouldnt have a say. Draftees dont now say in what club they go to if made eligible in the draft. This also applies to the rookie draft where certain AFL teams have zoning rights to players who originate from a certain area eg) Brisbane with QLD, Hawthorn with Tasmania, Collingwood with NSW etc

GC also has rights to select any uncontracted player in 2009 apparently...anyway ill stop bitching

but as it is not a part of the actual National Draft, if they dont want to go to GC, they could say so couldnt they?

The only way that Steven May would be able to go to another club other than GC17 (if he's any good) is to wait until the 2011 draft when he's 19, as GC would pick him up as a 17yo next year/take him pick 1 in '10 draft. Even then West Sydney would probably get drafting concessions.

looks like we'll have to go Watts this year, butcher and Scully next year.

I hope these concessions don't override f/s selections, coz Jack Viney is meant to be a very decent footballer.

Wrong. The 17 year olds have to agree to sign the contract and not opt for the draft. GC could do this this year also and signed a few 17 year olds from QLD. For example Dayne Beams (the one with the tats) who was from QLD rejected gold coasts offer and opted for the draft this year.

loook out for my cousin tom nnicholls.. tallish skinny ruckman :)

Is there anyone in the AFL you DON'T know?

Posted

as far as i stand it the 17 year olds taken outside the draft have to agree to go to the gold coast...

the good ones will opt for the draft you'd think and then run the gauntlet of being taken by the gold coast's share of draft picks the following year... having said that those draft picks, will most likely be traded for more experienced players to ensure the team isn't full of kids and gets smashed every week to begin with...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
