With Naitanui locked in at pick 1, how will the rest pan out.

Lets face it - not even the Melbourne Football Club is stupid enough to overlook Naitanui with pick 1 in the National Draft.

The chance is there to draft a freak of nature unseen beofre at AFL level, who also happens to be a fine footballer too.

Barring a complete and utter stuff up by oyr recruiting staff, Naitanui will be a Demon.

Which makes the rest of the draft very interesting. Obviously Rich will go to the Eagles at pick 2.

Where Jack Watts ends up will be the interesting one.

I have Freo taking Hartlett, and Port taking Hurley.

Which will allow Essendon to take Watts at pick 5.

Anyway, it should be very interesting. And I look forward to rocking up to Round 1 next year and seeing the Fijiian marvel blow the crowd away with feats never before seen on a footy field.

It won't happen YM. We are far more depleted in the forward line than the ruck, and that is why we will take Watts. I think the club fancy the kid Spencer to fill the ruck in the next couple of years, and Newton is not our answer up forward

Watts is average.

His stock will fall as the draft nears.

8 goals in 6 TAC Cup games is an abysmal return.

Vickery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on, be serious brother.

We will get Watts. 8 goals from 6 games in the TAC cup is a very good return considering he was being played in the midfield.

Getting Naita will be a brainfade from the MFC recruiters.

BTW i know for a fact that if we pass on Watts and get Naita (shudder) Freo will snap up Watts. They are very keen.

I have a feeling it won't come to that. Either we will indicate that we're going to take him or he will hold off nominating till next year.

You sound pretty confident that Nat will go to Melbourne with pick 1. I think that is unlikely, but not because of incompetence at MFC headquarters, rather, the exact opposite.

What odds would you take/pay?

regardless of how good his athletic ability is, i dont want someone that doesnt have elite footskills

Watts is a must at 1

Rich close at 1, but no thanks.

Watts played back and in midfield during TAC cup.

Did well midfield, not so great down back, by all accounts.

Is a star up forward. Should go number 1. Has no question marks like Naitanui does.

Stop obsessing and relax - any of those three are a good pick up, though Watts seems to be the general first choice.

Come on, be serious brother.

I am so deadly serious brother! We have pick 1 and should'nt have to kill for him. Ha Ha! Vickery for me. I think everybody is caught up with Mr. Watts. His bulb is blown.

This looks like fun.

We will take Naitanui at pick 1, and he'll make his debut in Round 1 next year, quickly establishing himself as our number 1 ruckman, our premier midfielder and our full forward all at the same time. He will win every single ruck contest he engages in, and his general strategy will be to tap the ball to himself, so that he can run it out of the centre to the 50 metre arc, bomb it into the forward line and outrun the ball to take the mark in the goal square. Sylvia will constitute our entire backline and not a single goal will be kicked against Melbourne for the entire year; on the rare occasion that the opposition have a set shot for goal, Sylvia will take a 30 metre vertical leap to make the defensive mark (sometimes he'll even get his jumper caught on the goalpost, and they'll have to get a cherry picker to help him back down). The other 20 players in the side will be instructed to stand on the boundary line for the entire game so they don't get in the way.

Watts wont get picked up in the PSD; Geelong will take him in the rookie draft. Even then, they will come to regret it; he will go down as literally the worst footballer in history, and everyone who sees him play (in Geelong's VFL reserves team) will die a little inside.

shame you wrote all that...

cos watts will be number 1, and will be playing for this club for a v long time. and for you to insult not only him but geelong is very low.

That was fun, you get the 3 votes ahead of Y_M with 2 votes. Congrats!

Yes, he does. There's doubt he likes a contest (read hardness). I'm sick of 'silky skills' at MFC. Must have hardness to go with skills.

No such doubt with Naitanui or Rich, or a number of other skilled players in the draft.

What a hoot! Loved the bit about outrunning the ball.

How can you be sick of silky skills?? :o

It's not like we have an abundance of them at the MFC... and considering the game is getting softer and softer im not sure hardness is such an issue.

Have you looked at whose playing in todays game?

Probably the 2 hardest sides in the comp, and it's safe to assume the team that wins the hard ball today will win the match

yes and no. hawthorn are in the gf because of lance franklin, lets be honest. yes their midfield is tough and great but you can't credit them being in the grand final without mentioning buddy.

If you took away Buddy imo they'd still be the second best side in the comp

Very true, Franklin is a gun but they have a very good even team with a smart coach. They also have a couple of other elites in Hodge and Mitchell.

No way that'll happen, Melbourne will go Watts. KP forward's don't grow on trees.

1. Watts (Melb)

2. Naitanui (WC)

3. Rich (Fre)

4. Hartlett (PA)

5. Hurley (Ess)

6. Ziebell (Carl)

7. Yarran (BL)

8. Vickery (Rich)

9. Robinson (NM)

10. Hill (Adel)

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
