PKF chartered accountants re about to terminate their $1m sponsorship of the Cronulla Sharks as a result of charges against player Greg Bird who has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on his girlfriend, Katie Milligan.

Perhaps they might be interested in supporting the Melbourne Football Club because our players are such nice guys!

I'm sure they'd love Chop Carroll or The big man Sylvia.

I know carroll is a bit of an idiot, but I can't recall him being involved in any off-field issue involving women. I think your comment is unfair on him and inappropriate.

This is a pretty good suggestion rumpole.

PKF are a multi-national company(120 countries) and they're an Australia wide company with offices located in every state and territory. My one query would maybe be that they are based out of Sydney, but they currently have sporting based sponsorship in Tas, Qld and NSW and seeing that AFL is the biggest national sport then i can see it being a possibility.

I know the club usually wouldn't source their sponsors from member emails, but have you emailed this to the club?

How many PKF partners are interested in AFL and barrack for Melbourne?

By sponsoring Cronulla, PKF would be concentrating on exposure in the Sydney market rather than the Melbourne market.

And FFS, I cant stomach the double standards of sponsors like PKF and TAC who have a corporate message to promote but choose to align themselves with other industries like AFL where the activities of the players are under high scrutiny and the risk of public and at worst criminal scandals are prevalent and in Collingwood's case high.

This incident may be a convenient way for PKF to fly the moral high standard flag while finding the perfect opportunity to exit a sponsorship they did not want to be in any way.

Maybe, but who really cares? Are you saying no, Rhino?

I wouldn't.

In all honesty..a Million aint going to cut it..not in AFL ...might get their name on the shorts !!

I'd happily take their million, if they'll only donate a million and that'll only get them shorts sponsorship then that's their decision. Point is that they've got a million dollars freed up for next year, we may as well take it.

And i wouldn't think that it'd be the worst thing in the world to have a sponsor who has some conditions attached to them. Not that i think any of the players are going to be stupid enough to stuff up under Bailey (who seems to be running a much tighter ship then Neale) but if the club has a sponsor worried about image then the club can put the players on notice that any indiscretions could cost the club millions.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
