After last years MASSIVE injury list a lot of people were questioning this bloke credentials. We had a large number of "soft-tissue " injuries as well as some players with Osteo Pubis (sp?)

Obviously this year injuries have struck again but seems mostly bad luck injuries, ie Robbos fall, maybe Rivers abdom tear but we don't seem to be copping the hammy strains and such injuries.

Is it just better conditioning? or the training style changed? or the players bodies are more resilient?

Thoughts????

Too early to say. Trends in this area need to be looked at over about a 5 year period; and that is hard to do as there is usually some change to the conditioning group during that time.

It could be just the rub of the green. I am prepared to cut the guy some slack; he seemed to get some pretty unfair criticism around here when he was appointed.

I thought most of the non OP injuries were contact or collision injuries last year.

maybe your right........didn't Davey pull hammies 2 or 3 time last year ? maybe my memory is failing.......

He might have, but that's still not most.

I recall the same, and of those that had soft-tissue injuries, most had form in that regard.

I think one that didn't was Green, who sustained a hamstring injury after being forced to stay on the field in a match where we didn't have enough fit men to provide rotations.

Davey has a history of hamstring injuries and given the way he plays its always a possibility. I actually thought he carried a knee injury and looked slow last year. I dont recall him injuring his hamstring.

I would put that injury down to a match situation if a player who would have come off with a twinge or a minor ailment was forced to stay because we had no fit interchanges available.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
